The Best Job in the World

Would you like to hang out and explore the islands of the Great Barrier Reef?  And spend your time doing things like sailing, kayaking, snorkeling, diving, picnicking, etc.?  Do you think you can handle blogging about your adventures?  Would you like to live in a 3-bedroom home like this…

…for free?  Does $150,000 Australian dollars (almost $100,000 U.S. dollars) for 6 months of this type of work sound fair to you?

Well then maybe you should get off your butt and apply for the position of Island Caretaker, a position created by Tourism Queensland to drum up interest for the area.

This is not a scam.  It’s a real job.  A bunch of reputable news agencies have already reported it.  Like this one.

You do need to be at least 18 years old and qualify for a visa.  Go here to read the rest of the details.  Or you can visit the general site for The Best Job in the World.

Application deadline is February 22.  Job starts July 1.

Don’t say I never did anything for you.  ;)

That may be true, but there has to be a catch. Like when they’re done with you, they throw you in a pit in a basement and demand you apply lotion to your skin…

As a Queenslander, I’m pretty sure it’s not a scam (Tourism Queensland are a government regulated body). This job has created more publicity than $150K worth of advertising would’ve and tourism is veeeeeeery important in Aus. Can’t survive on people coming to see koalas alone.
