So it seems like a lot of you are into photography.  Maybe not all hardcore, but you know, you enjoy taking pictures.  So how do y’all feel about bi-weekly photo assignments?  Every 2 weeks, I’ll post an assignment, you guys send me your pics, and then I’ll post them when the next assignment goes up.

If this sounds like something you’d participate in, let me know (either through comments or email).  If enough people are interested, I’ll post the first assignment next Friday.

The other thing I wanted to ask was…how comfortable are you guys with using your digital cameras?  I mean something along the lines of a point-and-shoot, even a high-end point-and-shoot, but not an SLR (the big ones with the interchangeable lenses), because most people can’t afford or don’t need an SLR.  If you feel like some pointers and stuff would be helpful, let me know what kinds of things you’d like to learn.  The reason I ask this is that a couple of you mentioned learning about photography in one of the blogs a few weeks ago, and I was wondering if there were more of you who were interested in learning stuff like this.

So!  Two things…1) Would you participate in photography assignments?  and 2) What kinds of things about photography/camera use would you like to learn?

P.S. I would love to learn what lenses are the best? what other angles i could shoot at? and more ways to focus on objects!

I’m getting my very first camera (considering i’m nearly 18 i feel that’s pretty late!) about mid-feb, like a week before my birthday cos i’m going away beforehand, and i think it’s a pretty basic-y digital one. my sister had to help pick it cos she’s the techy one in the family. but as soon as i figure out how to use it (and once i’ve gotten it) i’ll happily join in the assignments :)

auto focus is my best friend when im out and about… but manual focus… i use when i have my tripod :D

Aww tay. The photog pro! Please help me. I need to know what lenses are good to buy for the D40 Nikon. I prob will bother you on FB about it. :D

hey jess… heres an example where you can really see the photo angles… and the focus of the picture… I think i spent like forever on my knees in the dirty trying to get this picture LOL :D

and if you don’t plan on editing your photos.. make sure you have enough light and contrast in your pictures :D

I think this is a great idea Kathy! I love taking photos. I don’t know much about photography or cameras in general, but I would be willing to learn something new.

I would most totally want to do this. I absolutely adore photography and taking photos of all sorts of things, this is for sure a great idea!
