Scrumptious Sea Kittens?

Hey GBD girlys, Taylor Nikole here with my first post ever on Girls By Design because I thought I might as well learn how to post (of course Kathy is instructing me on how to do so…Thanks Kathy!) I’m so excited, and I might be taking Kathy’s 10 news post a day spotlight, but too bad! Just kidding Kathy!
Check this shiznap out! In this article I found out that PETA aka People for the Ethnic Treatment of Animals) wants to rename fish to sea kittens. My first thought is… okay that’s a little outrageous and a bit weird, but they are after all fighting for something they believe in so I won’t dis.  So, apparently PETA thinks that by changing ‘fish’ to ’sea kittens’ less people will eat them… after all who wants to eat something called a sea kitten? Actually, to this I said we should rename cats to land fish and eat them (just a reverse of PETA)! Although, I would never do such a thing, but it sounded as silly (not ridiculous) as naming fish…. sea kittens. So PETA has basically started a campaign (they act upon all the ideas that come to mind and I give them so much credit, although I don’t exactly support many of the crazy things they do) and they have been collecting signatures for their petition, which I’ve heard has a pretty fair amount of signatures so far (a little more than 6,000 signatures).
Apparently you can create your own sea kitten… how cute and funny is that. Andddd of course I couldn’t resist (aka Kathy was like OMG do it!)…. I created my own sea kitten

Mari said she wanted to be in the blog! SO here you go Mari!
So what do you guys think? Would you eat a sea kitten?

Dude, that’s a boy fish :(

Erm, and I’ll eat it no matter what it’s called. It’s just a name, it won’t change the fact that a fish is still a fish.

Had never thought they would come up with this idea! LOL I think it will take the enthusiasm off of eating ’sea kittens’? Yeah…DEFINITELY fullfils its purpose, at least with me!

Imagine with little kids, specially if they have a kitty at home. They go out to eat and there’s ’sea kitten’ on the menu?! Wow….

Haha. Aww, cute sea kitten! Mari ‘the sea kitten’ looks AWESOME! :D

ANYWAYS….yeah I’m a big fish eater, therefore….I ‘m still gonna chow down, no matter what the name :P although it does sound weirder calling them that O_O

“Hey can I have an order of the sea kitten with lemon butter sauce and a side of fries?” ……

yeah….no.

I thought wanting to rename the Cookie Monster to the Veggie Monster was a joke, but this is HILARIOUS!!

can you imagine if that really happens? I would have to create a facebook group – “When I was a kid, sea kittens were called fish…”

I don’t like seafood anyways, so it’s not a huge deal for me. Except I do like catfish, so I don’t think changing the name would affect my decision that much if I did happen to like other types of “sea kitties.” That just sounds ridiculous. I know you’re trying not to judge, Taylor, but PETA folks are crazy.

Marianne

I think if they weren’t so crazy they might achieve more, Emily.

Whatever, boy fish or not, I’m still a cute fish :D

Dude, this got me wanting fish and chips!

Excellent post, TK! A fish is a fish, and it has Omega-3 so, no way am I gonna stop eating fish just because it’s called a sea kitten. Geesh it’s a bit extreme, isn’t it. PETA forgets at some parts of the world, people have no choice but to survive on fish.

haha yeah i was complete veggie for a year and half… or more (not really sure haha)
but yeah i just started eating fish again recently..
because its sooo hard to get protein…
i don’t like eating fish… but i refuse to eat chicken and beef and other animals :D lol

Since my mom started radiation treatments, she had to start eating more protein, but is restricted to eating only fish or poultry for meat. Fish is a big component in the Okinawan Diet (based on the diets of the people living on Okinawa, Japan, which had the most people living over 100.)

i.e. seems as though fish is very good for you.

@ Mari – It’s NOT a boy fish. Brazilians just have excessive facial hair. ;)

They could rename fish “Baby Marcus” and I’d still go back for seconds.

Marianne

lmao don’t let kendra read that!!!

I’ll ignore your comment about brazilian facial hair, blondie.
