Swap! Switch! Save!
Hellooooooo GBD! Our good friend Tarrow is here to tell you how to save money and still have your fun funs! Here we go!

I was reading in some GBD facebook “Favorite Books” discussion thread and noticed a lot of people said they would read more, but that books are too expensive.
Well, I’ve been using these 2 sites and I really recommend them. Trade things you don’t want for things you want instead of buying them new.
They’re both for swapping DVDS, books, CDs, and games.
How SwitchPlanet works
- You list the items you have and want to trade for a number of “switchbucks” (1 SB ~ $0.50)
- People who want your item request it from you.
- You accept their request, and mail your item.
- When they receive it, they check a box saying they got it, and you get the SwitchBucks.
- Then you use these SBs to request stuff you want from other people.
How Swaptree works
- You list stuff you HAVE.
- You list stuff you WANT.
- When you list an item you have, there’ll be a list of stuff you can get with that particular item. You either request something from someone else, or wait till something wants your item (in return, you get something from your wishlist).
- Mail to each other.
Of course, both sites have a ratings system. SwapTree isn’t as user-friendly and is missing a lot of features, but there are more choices and it’s easier to find trades. With SwitchPlanet you often have to wait awhile for something to request your items.
Free to sign up for both. The only cost is shipping when you mail out your items.
I just thought people might find it useful and a cheaper option than always buying new things. I was a little hesitant at first because it’s my nature to like new things over used things, but the quality of the DVDs and the books I’ve received have been pretty good. I never buy new DVDs anymore.
Cheers,
Tarrow

Isn’t that great? The other benefit of this is that you’re also saving the earth by recycling and creating less garbage. So thanks Tarrow! Defender of Our Wallets, Defender of the Earth.
