Happy New Year?

Today is the last day of January.  That got me wondering.

At what point, exactly, does it become awkard to wish people a “Happy New Year”?

Like, it’s definitely awkward to wish people a “Happy New Year” in July, right?  In the spring even.  But what about February?  Is February okay?  Cuz that’s tomorrow.  If someone wished you a “Happy New Year” tomorrow, would you be like, “Uhhh…thanks?  You too?”

Educate me GBD.

I reckon a couple of weeks into the new year is becoming to get awkward. I think about it this way, if I have gotten used to the fact that it’s 2009 (you know when you keep forgetting that it’s a new year, you keep saying and writing the old year) then it’s time to stop. That usually happens a week or two into January so that’s when I think it’s time to wish people.. something else? In Sweden we do have a saying which I dislike, it translated to “Have a nice continuation” and many people only say “Happy New Year” on New Year’s night and “Merry Christmas” on Christmas day and then change to the continuation thingy which I really don’t like.

hum….I have not noticed a definite day as “your last chance to wish me a Happy New Year ! ” :P however, I think that the following week is okay, like if you see someone and you could not wish him on the first :P

Technically speaking, I think your birthday is the real new year….since it was on this day that you were born and finish your one yr of being in the world. It is also on this day that your mind was a clean slate. So really….it’s your new beginning.

haha I think if you haven’t seen someone since the year before, February is definitely the limit.
