Happy New Year?
Today is the last day of January. That got me wondering.
At what point, exactly, does it become awkard to wish people a “Happy New Year”?
Like, it’s definitely awkward to wish people a “Happy New Year” in July, right? In the spring even. But what about February? Is February okay? Cuz that’s tomorrow. If someone wished you a “Happy New Year” tomorrow, would you be like, “Uhhh…thanks? You too?”

January 31, 2009I reckon a couple of weeks into the new year is becoming to get awkward. I think about it this way, if I have gotten used to the fact that it’s 2009 (you know when you keep forgetting that it’s a new year, you keep saying and writing the old year) then it’s time to stop. That usually happens a week or two into January so that’s when I think it’s time to wish people.. something else? In Sweden we do have a saying which I dislike, it translated to “Have a nice continuation” and many people only say “Happy New Year” on New Year’s night and “Merry Christmas” on Christmas day and then change to the continuation thingy which I really don’t like.
