I LEGO NY

comments

I love NY.  And I love LEGOs.  While artist Christoph Niemann spent time indoors with his sons on a cold, winter day in Berlin, his mind wandered back to NY. So he made the following things out of LEGOs.

If you’re not from NY, you might not understand some of these.  I tried to include the ones that had a more universal appeal.  You can go here to see the rest.

Thanks to my sis, who knows that you can take the girl out of NY, but you can’t take NY out of the girl.

Haha I love Legos! I remember building schools and airports with them – so much fun!

hahhaa! they are soo simple and cute, but you can clearly imagine everything. That’s pretty cool.
Except the sunset and the street, since I’ve never been there, but yeah :P

Binks…dude. The sunset and the STREET? It’s SUPPOSED to be the Hudson River, which separates the West Side of Manhattan from NJ. *sigh* Oh where oh where is your love for NY?

If it weren’t for the fact that you write such good movie reviews, I would disown you. ;)

I didn’t get the union square one either, which is kind of ridiculous since I’ve been many of times personally and I have a painting of it hanging over my head right now…haha.

Can someone explain?

Arelis, did you say that because you wanted to make me cry? ;)

It’s referring to Union Square station on the subway. 3 “colors” of subway lines pass through that station: the yellow (N, R, Q, W) and the green (4, 5, 6) run north and south (more or less…in Manhattan at least), and the gray (L) runs east and west.

Oh snap, I didn’t see it that way at all! I was thinking of the street itself in front of Union Square and that the green represented the green of the park and the other green maybe represented the Whole Food store across the street…It was the yellow that threw me off…haha. Yes, I was totally OVER thinking the whole thing! Silly me.

So yeah, subway lines totally makes so more sense then how I was trying to see it! Thank you for saving me from my mind. :p
