Helping the Homeless and Their Pets
Jessica F loves her dogs. And dogs in general. Well, animals in general. This is because she has a big heart. So naturally, she sent me this article about a Belgian homeless shelter that opened its doors to dogs this winter. Many homeless refuse shelter if they can’t bring their dogs with them, so the shelter started this program in order to persuade their owners to get off the freezing cold streets.
Belgium is not alone in these efforts. In Hollywood, California, the non-profit group PATH has opened a shelter that will house both homeless people and their pets.
There is also an organization called Feeding Pets of the Homeless, which provides food and veterinary care for pets of the homeless in communities across the U.S. and Canada.
If you’d like to find out more about PATH and Feeding Pets of the Homeless, click on their links.
Thanks Jessica F! If dogs could read this, they would “Ahroooo!” in gratitude.
