24 Digits
Kimani Hubbard was recently born with 12 fingers and 12 toes. Having an extra finger or toe (known as polydactyly or polydactylism) is actually not that unusual. But Kimani is exceptional because he was born with what appears to be fully formed and functional extra digits on ALL of his hands and feet. His extra fingers and toes blended in so seamlessly that the doctors and nurses didn’t even notice. It was Kimani’s father, Kris, who noticed.
Hopefully, Kimani’s extra digits won’t be too troublesome for him. A doctor did mention that the extra toes might prove to be uncomfortable later on if he has trouble with shoes and such. But pediatrician Dr. Michael Treece said, “It’s merely an interesting and beautiful variation rather than a worrisome thing. Imagine what sort of a pianist a 12-fingered person would be. Imagine what sort of flamenco guitarist. Think of their typing skills.”

February 12, 2009That is so awesome! Yeah at first I also noticed that all fingers seem to be completely functional. That’s pretty rare! That kid’s gonna be able to play the guitar or piano like no other.
