Ohhhh, Kathy. This Canuck in question, well Canucks if you must, would be a NHL team based in Vancouver and currently 5th in the Western Conference. The team name was derived from a cartoon called “Johnny Canuck.” This cartoon was made in 1869 and made a comeback in 1942 during WWII and I’ll shut up now.

Oh and the cartoon wasn’t really random, it was made after Canada’s confederation, so like a year and a half after Canada became a country and you know how the US has Uncle Sam and Britain had John Bull for national personifications? We had Johnny Canuck.
