GOOD NEWS NETWORK
Hey Ladies,
I wanted to introduce you to Geri, a Fabulous Female that has created this wicked network called GOOD NEWS NETWORK, (Shout out to Brooke for the introduction). Geri’s mission is to provide a “Daily Dose of News to Enthuse.” The Good News Network is a clearinghouse for the gathering and dissemination of positive news stories from around the globe. Daily stories will confirm what we already believe — that good news itself is not in short supply; the advertising of it is. I downloaded this info from her GOOD NEWS NETWORK ABOUT US page. Hi there! I’m Geri, the founder and editor/publisher of the Good News Network. I began this effort in 1997 as a passion to serve humanity with doses of positive news. Now my goal is to make this a business. I want to be the first person to really prove that good news sells.
My background is in television (news and production). I did some good news podcasting in 2007 and sent a reel in to a contest to find a new NPR host. My vision includes radio, TV and print. We’re building a movement while growing a business.
Why Good News? There are many ways that positive news can improve our lives by bringing emotional well-being, health and even prosperity.
How do we define ‘good’ news? Good question. No matter what the story line, “compelling” is the bottom line. We try to find news that’s worth your time. We have a Good News Philosophy which defines our content and audience. Our audience shares a set of values that lead to a common ground. For instance, our target audience shares a commitment to personal development and environmentally-friendly living.
The GNN-i Team of volunteers make this Website run more smoothly. We are growing and evolving and would love to have you join. Just drop us a line and tell us about yourself. The only requirement is passion.
Founder/Publisher’s Bio — From her launch in the summer of 1997 through a two-year sabbatical in 2004–06, to a new site design in 2007, Geri has guided the Good News Network with an enthusiasm and passion unmatched in the realm of positive media. During the 1980’s she roamed the halls of Congress and the White House during her 10-year career in TV news. Today she leads a movement to provide more balance and inspiration in your media diet.
This site is dedicated to the 50 million Cultural Creatives like myself who are invested with an interest in carving out a more sustainable and loving world. Activists and social change agents need reminders of the progress being made in the world to keep from burning out and becoming embittered. GN Network will keep a constant vigil for them, trying to lighten their load and brighten their day with proof that we are making great progress.
