Senior Year! Memorable Experience

Graduating and knowing you’ve officially concluded a step in your life can be like a roller coaster of emotions. I, for one, felt: happy, sad, excited, scared, frustrated, adventurous, and all sorts of things just thinking on what would college be like and how would I adapt after 12 years of simpleness! To be frank it has passed all too quickly. It’s scary to think it’s over.

Senior Year can be the best of all years in high school but it can end so quickly. Afterwards you feel like it could’ve lasted a little longer…but oh well, what are you gonna do, right? [Binks, feel free to add your thoughts too!! :D And all ex-Seniors and please enlighten the feeling and all else you feel like expressing! :D ] Make sure you make the best of this exhilirating, fast-paced year people! Oh! And take as MANY pictures as you can too!

Even though there are classes which mortify us and make you feel like banging your head against the locker, there’s still all those fun times with friends too! For our final days at school, it was interesting to see how my class got together and made the best of the final days. We went to this place called “Akuatika” which is filled with awesome pools and we had a total blast and almost EVERYONE made it there! Which was very surprising and truly memorable.

Senior Class '09

Yeah, that’s all of us there in Akuatika, it was sooo funn!! :D Yeah, are class is composed of 90 students, and not all are there due to the fact that some were already getting their sunblock haha. And I? Where was I? Taking the picture, that’s right. :)

Here’s another picture of the place haha. Those two water-shooting guns were fun!

These little things were a blast!

These little things were a blast!

And what did the Juniors do that we cried sooo much about? They did our Seniors Farewell. That’s was both beautiful and nostalgic. It’s sad to  officially say goodbye to people! They had a carnival themed party for us and it was AWESOME! They had drag-queens, bearded lady, clowns, Italian-speaking people, Opera-lady and all the random shite they could think of…they put in there! haha

Opera Lady

They also had a little Cat in the Hat theme going on because our class symbol had Things 1 & 2 and the Cat hee hee :D

Cat in the Hat

I will leave this unconcluded because this is not over yet. If I had my dad’s camera I would display the graduation pics and talk to you a little about that but I gotta wait for dad to bring it over. But as you can see, Senior life can be quite the rush and an unforgettable experience. It was fun being a Senior to the Class of 2009 and it’ll continue being fun to be one.

What can I say to those of you who are yet to live this rockin’ experience? ENJOY IT TO THE FULLEST! :D And I say this with feeling :)

And now…Let’s DISCUSS!

And to all Graduates like me from the lovely ‘09? Please share your thoughts on the experience! :D How did you enjoy it? What will you miss?

And to all who graduated before us? Please share your lovely thoughts also! What do you miss? How have things changed?!

Love,
Jenny

Wow my senior year was a while ago…hahahaha but it was exactly how you explained. High School was an amazing time in my life. I am from a very small town so we all new each other and had become very close over the years. Believe it or not I still have many close relationships from high school.

Funny how after high school everyone takes their own path and its true, some people will grow apart from each other.

I think the best advise I could you give you girls is to embrace the changes your friends make as they grow, don’t try and retro fit your relationship into what it once way.

As you all grow and become more independent your values will change…but it doesn’t mean you cant still be friends…enjoy each others new discoveries and continue to learn from each other.

@Kendra-Great advice Kendra! It’s nice you’re still close friends with some of your high school friends!

@Jenny-Hahaha…my HS class song all of the sudden began ringing in my head!

Well well well, mine was in 2007 :P because in Québec, we have 5 years of high school, then 2 years of Cégep before heading to University. So I am now done with Cégep as well..since this last Tuesday :P

So, when I finished high school, of course some of my friends were leaving to bigger cities such as Montreal but most of my close friends were going to the same Cégep as mine. They are now going to go at the same University, in Québec City, as I will in Fall.

I would say that I am still close friends with a small group of them, but I don’t see as many friends as I did in high school. However, whenever we meet again, it feels like yesterday.

I also agree that those years were the simplest hehe, that you have to enjoy every second of it, but then, what’s next is also filled with new adventures and challenges that make life enjoyable, I think that when you go through rough times, when you get over it, you realise how great life is, something that when we are younger, oftenly take for granted.

Congrats, and take care!

@MarilyneL- That’s sooo cool 5 years!

It’s nice to still keep close friends! That’s awesome!

You’re right about taking it for granted, my grandpa is definitely Right when he says you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.

I graduated high school last year, and I can’t believe that my first year of college is nearly over! To the class of 2009, I would say that you definitely have to put in more effort than you would expect to maintain high school friendships, but if the friendships were true in high school, then it’s certainly possible to keep those people as friends for a very long time. If you’re headed off to college/university/travel/work/whatever in the fall, make sure to enjoy your summer as best you can, because thereafter it’ll be harder to get everyone physically together again! I miss the ease with which I could see everyone in high school and regret not cherishing it more at the time.
Also, post-graduation is a great time to explore things that you might not have had the chance to do in high school! Seize the opportunities.

Congrats high school class of 2009!

i graduated this year too. 17 days ago.
i am from a small town in louisiana, so i was in a class of 52. i had gone to school with most of them for 14 years. no lie. what was weird though is that we all thought that this would be a night of celebrating! we were finally out of high school! but we were all pretty sad during graduation. because of where we live, we have very few local universities and its understood that we would have to kinda scatter once high school was over. so we were kinda bummed.
but senior year was by far the best year of high school to me. and it FLEW BY. it went by so so fast.
my little ‘gang’ of friends were constantly taking pictures and videos of us… especially at the football games. when i think of HS i think of football games with my friends, so we wanted to remember that. and we made a time capsule filled with things important to us and things we wanted to remember. we also made video letters to our future selves because we thought we would get a kick out of it when we finally opened it. (we’re planning to when we’re 25.)
i’m going to miss the teachers too. that small of a school, you get really close to people, and the teachers are no different. very cool people that honestly care if you make in the world or not.
but even though i’m bummed that HS is over (and even though i don’t feel old enough or ready to be in college), my sister (8 years my senior) has assured me that college is a blast and that i’ll be fine. so i guess we’ll see!
:)
yay for ‘09-ers!

May 28, 2009

@Linden- I love the time capsule idea you guys planned and pursued! That’s awesome! I’m sure you’ll all have a blast seeing what you all put in there! :]

I graduated last year and I went to an all-girls school. We were fifteen years together and it was bittersweet when we had to say goodbye. Oh, and the Juniors made a farewell party for us too!

Alison

May 28, 2009

I haven’t graduated yet, but my high school graduation is coming up on Monday, and the past few days leading up to it have all been bittersweet.

I never expected to feel sad about leaving high school. I always thought that I would be excited and ready to leave. I thought that I would be moving far away from home when I started college in the fall. Nothing turned out the way I expected it to, and I’m glad. I’m happy that I’m going to miss high school, because I never thought that it would be something worth missing. I’m happy that I’m staying close to home, because I always thought that I would be anxious to get away. I’m glad that I have a newfound appreciation for my town.

My first three years of high school weren’t the best, but everything has turned itself around. Senior year has been the best year of my life, and I’m sad to leave it behind, but I’m looking forward to what’s up ahead.

Congratulations to the other members of the class of 2009!

That’s really cool. I’m graduating on the 26th and I’m already thinking ‘Ok, Now what?’ High School had it’s up and downs which makes for a good movie. There are things about it i’ll miss (Like the free food and metrocards). I’m very excited about college though. I have so many plans, I want to do as much as possible in the next four years. Good luck fellow seniors!

I’m just finishing off my senior year and i can definetly say that i’m really excited! I graduate this saturday!! I wasn’t too keen on walking , however my sister convinced me to go through the cermony. I know it will probably be filled boring speeches that i will have to go through and long hours of sitting I’m probably going to be chewing at my nails, just hoping i don’t trip when I’m walking in my goregous high heels that i just bought for graduation. I really dislike my school, but I can say that I’m really glad to be graduating. Plus, it was another reason to go shopping. This senior year was odd. It may not have been the way I had planned but i did make a few new friends who I am really close too. My friend Ayisha who is a going to be a junior in the fall I really wouldn’t have survived without her. At least I finally put highschool behind me and look ahead to college. I just hope it will be at least half of what i expect

@ewita- That’s a long way from graduating! But I’m positive you’ll do great and will pass those exams! :D Goooo ewitaaaa!! :D

@ Cineaste- Good luck on graduation day! Hope you have a blast!

@SimplySuz- I’m SO glad your sister convinced you because it is a moment you’ll NOT want to miss, skipping the speeches and all procedures of handing stuff out, it’s a moment you’ll want to remember, after all, you worked hard for that precise moment! :D Didn’t we all?! :D And it’ll be one of your last moments with your class! So, I’m SO glad you won’t be missing it! Have fun!! You see how great friends can be! They help you go through stuff! It was the same with me! I got along with many Juniors! They helped me through a lot too! :D Best Wishes in college!

Best wishes to all! :D

Jenipher!mira donde estoy haha!! a practicar el ingles se ha dicho lol! cuando este mal en algo me lo corriges lol.

—————

hi everyone! Im Jenipher’s cousin, As you can see I speak spanish and I’m not very good in English but I try my best ;)

well, my graduation was last year. 2008. I was excited and happy because after 12 years I finally end school, but at the same time I was a little scared about college. Of course i felt sad because all those years seeing my friends everyday at school were ended. But I thank God because after one year I still have contact with my friends and when we have the chance we see each other. I feel very comfortable in college and in August I”m going to start my 2nd year. Everything in life is a process, and high school is part of it, those years are very important for me and I will always remember them. ;)
