Let me introduce you to, Tracey Fleming…Tracey is is a 15 years old GBD’er from Ireland!

Music is a big part of this GBD’ers  life and she wants to share that expression with YOU! ya…YOU!

Here is what this LIFE LOVIN GAL has to share…take it away Tracey!

Oh and if you want to check out Tracey’s fabulous-ness check out her youtube page http://www.youtube.com/XXxxtraceyfxxXX

******************

Hey Girls!

So its summer time now … that means it’s time to get your mp3 loaded with the best new music to make you feel great this summer!

Don’t bother with the sad slow tunes that are only going to darken the mood, make sure that every second of this summer is filled with the right beats to have you jumping around without a care in the world… that’s what it’s all about!

There are lots of summer songs out there that you can enjoy with friends or by yourself! You could be having a girly night in with a couple of these tunes blasting in the background, or you could be going for a stroll on a nice summer evening! Either way I have the perfect songs ready to make your summer the best ever!

Personally my favourite summer songs are the ones that make you feel free and open… the ones that give you that nice warm feeling inside, the ones that remind you life can be so good at times! They’re the ones I always go for! J

The songs that I’m telling you about this time are

‘’Put Your Record on ‘’  by Corinne Bailey Rae!

This song is the absolute perfect track to get you feeling great about yourself!

The video to the song just screams summer time! Also there is some beautiful scenery in it so I strongly suggest you give it a watch! J

This song means a lot to me as it really brings a strong message across! It reminds me that life is good and so much can be done! It reminds me that you should enjoy every second that you spend here on earth and to make sure you enjoy it because you only get one chance at it… so why not make it rock!!

Another track that could really make your summer very special is…

‘’Shine’’ by Laura Izibor!

Check out her MySpace Page

This song is so gorgeous! It’s all about having fun and enjoying life! My favourite line from the song is ‘’Let the sunshine on your face, don’t let your life go to waste’’

You guys should really check out these songs as they are perfect for making every girls summer much more enjoyable!

So guys…you’ve heard what I got to say… but now I want to hear from you!

This is the first time this article has been posted and I really hope we can keep it going! But to do it I’m going to need your help!  Maybe we can put together a GBD Summer Play List?

I want you guys to tell me your favourite summer songs and to give me the answers to as many of these questions as you can! It’s ok if you can’t answer them! Just do whatever you can!

1-      What makes this song your favourite summer song?

2-      What does this song mean to you?

3-      How do you like to listen to your favourite summer song?

It really couldn’t be more easy guys! And I can’t wait to hear what you think!

It can be any summer song you like and the answers can be as long as you want! It’s all up to you!

Also another point! Being an aspiring musician I’m a big fan of writing my own songs! It gives me a good way to express myself no matter what I’m feeling!

Do any of you guys write your own songs?

If you do I’d love to hear about them and to talk about what inspired them!

So guys! Hope you enjoyed the post this time!

And remember… this summer… just kick back, relax, enjoy yourself and keep on singing because music is the best way to express yourself, it shows personality, creativity and can tell a lot about a person! It doesn’t even matter if you can’t sing that well… you can still enjoy it! J

Looking forward to hearing from you!!

Talk to ye girls again soon!

Lots of love,

Xox

Tracey, thank you for introducing me to Laura Izibor.

I love music and I can’t go a day without it. I love all kinds of music but, my favorite is Country (Dolly Parton, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Bonnie Raitt, Sara Evans,…) and Jazz (Stacey Kent, Sophie Milman, Nora Jones, Rebekka Bakken,…)

I’d love to write lyrics because I agree with you that it’s a great way to express yourself. Unfortunately I don’t have the talent to write songs but, that doesn’t keep me from enjoying music, singing along and write stuff down for my own pleasure.

I can’t think of a special summer song at this moment but, I just love to listen to my favorite artists and truly enjoy the music and songs. Music is sheer delight, it inspires me, gives me joy and strength, makes me smile and, it comforts me.

To me music is…’magic’!:-)

I wish you well in life and good luck, joy and fun on your musical journey.

Music!!!! I was working last night an a friend of mine, called me a meloman..as addicted to music..and I am indeed! I loooove music, listen to it, or even better, play it along with my guitar or the piano.
I recently bought a car…what a joy it is to listen to a song in your car, singing out loud, in the sun, cheveux dans le vent! :P

I have multiple favourite summer songs, but the first ones that come to my mind are Rise Up by Yves Larock, any David Guetta songs, including Love is Gone, any songs that have a catchy rhythm, happy lyrics and and enough easy so it stucks in your head! Of course, there would be a list of songs out there, but I’ll stick with those. I just can’t listen to them and feel sad, it automatically brings a smile along! :P

One thing I like about summer songs, is that even a year later, when your hear the song, it makes you think about the last summer, or the one before..sweet memories of course

I would love to hear your compositions! I am not writing any songs at this time, but I could try to work on that, however, I think I would prefer composing the music to lyrics :P

Great post and songs!!

One of the favorite song is that of Jason Mraz I’m Yours. When you watch at his video, it feels so very relaxing and cool. It makes you want to join him and his friends and go on vacation when watching and listening at his video. Very relaxing cool and nature loving song.
At first, when you hear this song you’ll probably think it is just another love song for a person but for me after watching this video makes me realize that we should also do something for our environment and make it better for the future generations by giving yourself back to the nature. For what would our love be without places like this help us remember and rekindle what love should have.
By the way both of the songs of your choice, Tracy, are very good song pieces and are very uplifting especially for the teen girls and I agree that this site should also have a forum where the teen girls could share and discuss their favorite songs to understand and help each other to become a better person for yourself and your society.

Tracey, what a great post!

I’m more of a classic rock girl, but I have a healthy appreciation for feel-good songs :) A few songs that I’ve been playing on repeat lately are “Bubbly” by Colby Caillat, “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz (that man is one of my faaavourite singers), and “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer.

I hope you continue to share your love for music with everyone around you.

Music has always been apart of me, ever since I was a little kid. I listen to almost all types music; country, light rock, hip-hop, r&b, rock, christian and even some classical music when I study.

Without a doubt one of my favorite summer songs is “Surfah Girl” by Paul Wright. The song describes a life of a girl who has cancer and has no idea how long she has left but continues to wake up every morning and go surfing.
I have been blessed to have never had to endure such a hardship so far in my life but the song speaks to me just as strongly. I’m somewhat of a surfer girl myself (as much of a surfer girl as you can get living in CT =]) and being out on the water, especially at sunrise or sunset, is pure paradise. The waves just wash away your troubles and worries and for that moment of time you are in absolute control of whats going around you. I wouldn’t give up that feeling for the world.
I LOVE listening to my summer playlist when I’m down at the shore either around sunrise or sunset when there aren’t many people around. Just sitting on the beach with my notebook in my hand writing whatever comes to mind. Because the beach is somewhat of a trip for me my second favorite place to listen to my summer playlist is in my car with the windows down on an empty stretch of road, it always just so relaxing.
I do also write my own music but haven’t perfected any good summer songs yet. I’ll let you know when I do! =)

greetings from the U.S. Tracey!!

I am fortunate to have many friends who play guitar. One such friend introduced me to a movie called, “August Rush”.
Turns out — after watching it — I totally fell in love with it.

My favorite scene is this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSI4_9OhwV8

I was VERY excited when I was able to but this song, Bari Improv, in my playlist.

The ENTIRE movie is based upon music and how it effects us. :D
I highly recommend the movie, not only because of the music. It also has a wonderful story to tell.

What I like the most is the main character’s motto -
“The music is all around us. All you have to do…is listen.”

Isn’t that brilliant?! :)

Thank You so much for posting!!

Summer songs, summer songs, hmmm. This may sound weird, buuuut when I think of summer songs, Jack Johnson immediately pops into my head. Probably because he just has a beachy feel to him and I love it haha. Bedouin Soundclash and Metric are usually on the summer sounds list too. Then throw in some good dance music, just to get you pumped and my friends and I have also discovered that The Dropkick Murphys are pretty good at getting you pumped too haha. Anyways… IMO, the best way to listen to summer songs is with a group of people, more energy is flowing and it just creates the perfect…Happy environment, I think it mixes well with the purpose of the songs.

P.S. I forgot to add road mixes up there and I’m too lazy to edit haha. But yeah, I think songs for those road trips are key, too. Otherwise you’re sitting in the car for hours going stir crazy lol.

Ah music!! There is no better way to put it! It’s absoulty amazing!! Hmm summer songs.. Ha there are too many to choose from! My top 3 though are
1. Tattoo- Jordin Sparks… Why? Because it’s upbeat and just a good look at life, whither it’s saying goodbye to a friend when the summer starts or whatever… It’s a good Song!! This song to me is uplifting because it’s true, real friends you will always have :) And How do i listen to it? Well it could be sitting on the beach at the lake soaking up the sun, or riding my bike in the morning :)
2. Our Song- Taylor Swift… Why? Taylor Swift is probably my favorite woman artist just because all of her music is so real and down to earth. This is such a fun song to have blasting in your car and sing on the top of your lungs with your friends!! I think that answers all three q’s :)
3.Always Love- Addison Road. Why? Addison Road is so uplifting! I love their music! This song is fun, with a message! With you reach out with love, you can achieve so much more! :) They aren’t as well known… So you should all check them out they are AMAZING!! :)

Thanks Tracey! Great topic! And I created a new youtube playlist right away with all your songs! =D

What is life without music? I can’t imagine! Don’t you think it would be great to have your own soundtrack of your life? Music will play as soon as something interesting, new, exciting, sad, depressing or great happens in your life? I wish I’d have something like that! Har har!

I thought maybe you guys like to get to know some German summer songs… these are my all time favorites :) The rhythm is just summerly!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ub4475ULaE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVFrcdJpQuA (I know this looks weird at the beginning, but keep watching!)

This is not German, but I just love it… and I always dream while hearing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZIoxw0ca9E

And I really like Bubbly and Hey there Delilah… they always reminds me of summer 2007 – just like you said, years later just one can be the whole memory! Sometimes just a simple song can mean the whole world to me!

@Lin: August Rush has the worst movie ending I’ve ever seen ;) I mean the music was awesome! I love the soundtrack and especially the scene you posted! But the ending was sooooo sappy! That was definitely too much for me ;)

I LOVE Corinne Bailey’s “Put Your Record On”!! It’s AWESOME! I remember the first time I heard it! :D Thrilling experience hahaha

My ultimate favorite summer song? eeeehhhh I’m a tough cookie to crack for favorite songs because there’s such a LARGE variety!

OOHH OHHH OHHH It just came to me! Mat Kearney’s “Closer to Love”

I simply love this song because who isn’t in love with love, right? It’s a song I’ve enjoyed listening to in the car, cruising along with the windows rolled down and the breeze making my hair fly everywhere and everytime I listen to it, it makes me think all over of that AWESOME moment in the car enjoying the view and the wind in my face! :D Pure genius!

This song means the world to me! There’s no explanation :D

Awesome subject to share in the blog Tracey! :D Pure Genius! :D MILLIONS of Kudos!

Well im very random with music. Depending my mood I choose a song and when I use the Zune, I put the Shuffle option and I listen to whatever it come hehe. But my favorite music of all seasons, not just summer, is music of COLDPLAY… and also music of KT TUNSTALL, BROOKE FRASER, 30 SECONDS TO MARS.
I also like few songs of Rhianna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry etc. And of course I like Spanish music too :) but I make the list in another moment ;) lol

Kendra: I used to love “walking on sunshine” but you know what? I started to hate it a little bit because few months ago I put it as my Wake Up alarm for a long period, so now when I hear it I remember the multiples times it woke me up ..hahaha.. but I still like it a little, because is cool and happy :)

This is such a great topic. I love music and I would have to agree with Ninz…life without music is simply unimaginable.

This summer my friends and I made a “summer to do list.” One of the things we are hoping to do is to write a song, though we haven’t really started on it…but I’ll keep you posted :)

One artist that I discovered about a year and a half ago is Marie Digby. I love her style because most of her songs are upbeat and fun to listen to. One of her songs that reminds me of summer would have to be Swoon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXPR7THmNP4

I think of summer love when I listen to it and it never fails to make me happy :)

Thanks for the post and good luck!

i<3musicohsomuch! hmmm some summer songs would be …. Memory Lane by Adeaze and Lemonade by Passion…if you’re trying to be calm and mellow … then for partying Beggin’ by Madcon, This Is How We Do It by Montell Jordan, and Buddy by Musiq Soulchild. They kind of give me some old school summer vibe. Oh and Summertime Anthem by Mr. Capone-E? It makes me feel gangster when I’m in a car on a summer day :)

Hey Tracey, and all of my other fellow GBD’ers ;) .

To put it simply, I love music, as I’m sure many of you do. I have this strong notion that the world would be, well, less of a nicer place without it. Even if its just a simple drum beat adding rhythm to my footsteps…I don’t think I could live without it.

To be honest, I don’t exactly have a summer tracklist of songs. My choice in music goes by mood. I go through weird musical phases, it’s hard to describe =P. But I’m always open to something new….As long as it’s not bad. Haha, jkjk.

Well, seeing as we’re going for a “summery” feel, I figure I’ll just list some music that I’ve already stumbled upon on the radio this month, among other music that I like:
One good artist for this is definitely Carly Rae Jepsen. Both her songs “Tug of War” and “Bucket” are great tracks to listen to…especially on the beach, I find =P.
“Summer Girl” by Stereos is a really catchy tune. It’s got that slight “bouncy” element to it (do-op, do-op!). Hahahaha.
“Cross My Heart” by Marianas Trench. It a bit of an older song (uhm….December, January, I think?) but once you get into it, you can’t help but sing along.
And no doubt, one of my absolute favourite artists, Justin Nozuka. His music is simply….Magic. lolz. Absolutely incredible.

…Wow, I just realized….All of these artists are Canadian. Haha, talk about national pride =P.

Tracey, I love that you write your own music. It releases the inner poet inside all of us, and shows just how deep emotions can run. I write music as well, though none of it is any good….or finished yet. lolz! I’m still working on learning the instruments first. Then, once I have the proper equipment, and the skills =P, I plan on recording it and seeing how it sounds….Hearing how it sounds =P. But I definitely know the satisfaction of having that sweet melody that’s just been lingering on inside your head, handwritten down in that special notebook you tuck away under your bed at night….Or typed on the computer and placed in a special document folder =P. I’d love to hear your stuff =).

Enjoy the music, everyone.

Stay Classy,

-Oblivious….

So… you should probably check out some DMB (Dave Matthews Band). He’s pretty much awesome! Formed in the early ’90s by South African vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews, the Dave Matthews Band presented a more pop-oriented version of the Grateful Dead crossed with elements of jazz, funk, and the worldbeat explorations of Paul Simon and Sting.

Specifically:
“Stay (Wasting Time)”
“Funny The Way It Is”
“Grux”–>”Shake Me Like A Monkey”
“Dive In”
“Ants Marching”
“Dreamgirl”
“Everybody Wake Up (Our Finest Hour Arrives)”
“Crash Into Me”
“American Baby”
“Hello Again”
“The Last Stop”
