Mari’s Poached Mursday

Oh yes, I poached the Mursday, MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH. I poached it so I could wrap all of my loose ends up and start fresh with my special October Gridays. Speaking of which, they will kick butt, so you had better read/watch them! But first, I shall wrap up Eleanor Roosevelt.

OK, so I believe we left off at FDR getting Polio and Eleanor stepping in to keep his political career alive, yes?  Well before that, she was heavily involved with The Red Cross during WWI and after that, she was the hubby’s proxy, but so much more than a proxy. She took the reigns and did things under her OWN agenda. She was involved in the League of Women Voters, joined the Women’s Trade Union League, and worked for the Women’s Division of the New York State Democratic Committee. She helped to found Val-Kill Industries, a nonprofit furniture factory in Hyde Park, New York, and taught at the Todhunter School, a private girls’ school in New York City. All of this while being a mother?! Holy smokes, I think she was an alien. Seriously, think about it. Thiiiiink about iiiiiit.

Soooo, Eleanor was darn good at what she did, because FDR did become president. I know, I know, what a shocker! Gasp, shock, horror. What happened as First Lady? Welp, she traveled…A LOT. She traveled around the US, she visited relief projects, surveyed the working and living conditions and reported to the President. She also exercised her own political and social influence; she became an advocate of the rights and needs of the poor, minorities, and the disadvantaged (Whoa, busy gal! Alien, I tell ya, alien like Kathy.). In World War II, she visited England and the South Pacific to show good will among the Allies and boost the morale of troops.

As we all know, Eleanor out-lived Franklin, but that didn’t stop her! After his death, she She was appointed by President Truman as the United States Delegation to the United Nations General Assembly, and she was such until 1953. She was also the chairman of the Human Rights Commission during the drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In 1953, she resigned from the United States Delegation to the United Nations and then volunteered her services to the American Association for the United Nations. Hold on, I need a breather here. OK, OK, I think I’m good. So then she was an American representative to the World Federation of the United Nations Associations, and later became the chairman of the Associations’ Board of Directors. She was then reappointed to the United States Delegation to the United Nations by President Kennedy in 1961. Kennedy also appointed her a member of the National Advisory Committee of the Peace Corps and chairman of the President’s Commission on the Status of Women. Don’t worry, don’t worry, she got tons of well-deserved awards. IT’S ALL GOOD, PEOPLE! IT’S ALL GOOD! Not to mention the countless speeches she made all over, her persona in the media and several books she published.

It all came to an end on November 7th, 1962 in New York when our deal Eleanor died, but what a legacy the woman left behind! She did more in like a week than a normal person does in 5 years. Maybe she didn’t even die…Maybe the aliens beamed her back up. What do ya think? Eleanor Roosevelt, woman or super alien? HMMMM?!

Super Woman! :) That’s why I just admire this woman, she’s incredible! If she was capable of doing all that without as much technology as we have, imagine what we can do!

Poor Mari, no Mursday for her!

Can’t wait to see what you have to offer for tomorrow G! Hmm…what are you up to???
