Trippin’ with Susana: Washington – Part 1 of 2
Goooood morning GBD! Susana’s back to tell us more about her adventures. This past summer she went on a trip with her family to Washington. Whoohoo!

My next adventure with my family was at Washington State. It was really fun and sooooo beautiful it blew me away. We drove all the way from Salt Lake City, Utah (my hometown) to Washington, which was almost a full day’s drive – it took us 16 hours. It was a LONNNNNNG ride, but it was well worth it. I recommend it to anyone who loves the rain and beautiful scenery, and just green and cloudy all around. I love rain and clouds and just all around dark days, so to me Washington was the perfect state – it’s gloomy all-year long. Some people think that is ugly and depressing, but that is the opposite of what my family and I think because it’s just so beautiful, especially since we’re from a state that is hot and disgusting for long periods of time, and soooo cold other times. The weather in Washington is amazing – it’s around 70 degrees year-round. The coldest it gets is around 40 degrees, and it doesn’t pass 80 degress usually.

We were in Aberdeen, WA, which is a really pretty city. The people are great there and really friendly. They also have really cute little tiny shops and little houses that I think are gorgeous. I love small towns ,so this city was just so amazing. Next was Forks, WA, which of course everyone knows is where they filmed almost all of Twilight and New Moon. So the tourists there are from everywhere. It was crazy to see how many different types of people from all over were here for the sites they had. We got to see almost all the places they shot the films, although some stuff like the high school was totally different. They had shops everywhere dedicated to Twilight and the cast. Heck, they even had drinks and food named after the characters. It was so fun to see how the shops there just took Twilight to a whole new level.
We then got to our cabin, which was in the middle of nowhere. I loved it because it was so serene and relaxing and so beautiful. You could really just smell the rain, and the trees were so pretty. Nature here was crazy cool, and the air was so clean it made you feel like a new person. So after we got settled in our cabin, went went to go see the sites again since we were hurrying to get to our cabin and drop off our stuff. We then went to Kaloloch Beach. They didn’t film here, but I thought it was gorgeous.

The beaches there are amazing. I prefer them to any beach I have seen in California or anywhere else. It’s so peaceful and quiet that you could just sit there and watch the waves and read a book or even walk your dog. It’s that pretty even though the water is freezing cold. Washington beaches are not meant for people to go in the water, a lot of people do to surf. Even though we went at the beginning of August, it was so cold we had to wear jackets. Anywhere else would have been hot.
After Kaloloch, we went to Ruby Beach, which was really pretty, but I still prefer Kaloloch to Ruby anytime.
Both of these beaches are really hard to get to, so if you are planning to go make sure you bring water and good hiking shoes because both beaches have logs you have to climb to get to the beach. But again it’s well worth it. Here are some more photos of Ruby Beach, me, and my family.
