Well it’s certainly been a while and I’m awfully sorry for this! You see…life is all about constant changes happening all around you at any given moment and with that being said, that’s exactly what’s been going on in my life. Too many changes all at once, kinda got my head spinning and went all nutty for the moment. LOL [This I shall explain more about on the upcoming vlog...yes! VLOG! Finally! LOL Yes, those will be back again very soon.]
Anyways, off to the interesting stuff! Seeing as my aunt buys a yearly Teen Vogue subscription for me (yup, every Christmas), I found myself reading through a fairly short article titled “Fresh Direct: Miranda Kerr” by Eva Chen. (You can read the article here!) Obviously the article is about Miranda Kerr! LOL She’s better known as a Victoria Secret model. I must admit I thought poorly about models up until I read this article, which completely changed my perspective on models!
Miranda was raised in a rural town called Gunnedah in Australia. It was after graduating from high school that she went along to model, she studied nutrition and health psychology at the Academy of Natural Living in Australia. So it wasn’t her background that really drove me to write this article, it’s pretty much her views! She recently just finished writing a book titled Treasure Yourself (Hay House) which she says will “remind girls of what they’re capable of.” Here’s also something she had to say about what she wishes to accomplish with the book! “Your teen years are when you create a foundation for the rest of your life, from habits to ideas of who you think you are and what you believe you are able to accomplish. A confident teen is more likely to set out to achieve what she dreams of, simply because she thinks she can. I want to contribute to that.”
And even after awing to what she said, I was even more amazed at these last words from Miranda Kerr which concluded the article:
“One thing I tell girls who want to break in to the industry is that there’s no such thing as ‘looking’ like a model. There are so many different shapes and sizes, and everyone has things they want to change: freckles in odd places, dimples where they might not want them, and hair where it shouldn’t be. Just remember that picture-perfect doesn’t exist–perfection is you, just the way you are.”
I think the idea of having more and more public figures encourage teen girls to be themselves is fantastic! And to even write a book about it, that’s awesome!
I hope you all have a great day! Til next Sunday!
Love,
Jenny

November 22, 2009I read about her writing a book a while ago, and I was excited to see what she had to say. I totally agree with you Jenny, about public figures encouraging teen girls, right now celebrities and public figures are looked up to a lot be young girls, and it’s nice to see that some of them are aware of their status and use it to help others.
I hope school is going good for you
