Here’s what Marilyne from Canada has to say:

-
How do you think people perceive you and how is it different from the way you perceive yourself?
I would have to say that people more than often think that I am actually older than I really am. In 7th grade, people thought that I was a senior, or even that I had already graduated from high school! Someone even asked if I had children, to which I answered with a smile: “Hum…how old do you think I am?” The guy said, “Well, 22-23?” “No, I’m 16!”
I think that it’s because that I’ve always been quite mature, and some say it’s because of the way I speak…I don’t know!
Even this summer, my new colleagues thought I was close to 25….et non! I’m not even 20!
In Québec, the legal age to drink is 18. I have never been asked to show any ID cards to get in bars, or to buy alcohol (in grocery stores, cashiers are supposed to verify any person who looks under 25!). I just hope that phenomenon will stop one day…hehe! Other than that, I might seem quite shy at first, but once I get to know people, I loooove making jokes and fool around singing out loud! I also think people think that I’m a good, well-educated girl, but I know when it’s time to be serious and when it’s not!
I’ve always loved that quote from KK that was something like: “Just because I don’t do bad things doesn’t mean I don’t have bad thoughts.”
Few are the people who saw me angry, for the simple reason that I never am, unless someone is being racist! Then, watch me!
-
Which of your irrational fears is the silliest?
Heights! I’m freakin’ scared of heights! I don’t trust elevators or the thick glass on top of a certain CN Tower!
But I somehow love rollercoasters! For the challenge I guess! I know some day I’ll jump out from a plane with a parachute, but not so sure about bungee jumping.
To be made fun of is pretty close behind.
-
What is the most time-consuming activity you participate in?
Well…laugh?
Other than that, I would have to say that right now, studying is quite on top of the list, next to listening to music, playing music and sports! Sleeping is always a good option too.

What is the greatest lesson you have learned from a child?
Children always act like themselves. They are not trying to impress someone or trying to be someone else. Another thing that I observed and loved about my little cousin, is that as big as the fall off the bike may be, or the fact that his sister took his favourite teddy bear, a child never stays sad for a long time. It’s easy to find a way to make them smile or laugh all over again. Life seems so easy and light through a child’s eyes. -
If you could wave a magic wand and ask for whatever you wanted, what would you ask for?
I would ask for everyone to be able to achieve whatever their dreams are. I think that dreams are so important to get that daily motivation and set goals, and then eventually realize them and be HAPPY about their lives! That would avoid a lot of problems I think. -
What is the most beautiful moment you have ever experienced?
Speaking of dreams, I think that the first night I spent in Vancouver, I could not believe, after all those years, that I was actually there! My sparkling eyes spoke for themselves the next couple of days.
-
What are you most grateful for?
I’m so grateful for the life I was lucky to be given. May it be my family, my friends, my health, the country I was born in, or even today’s technologies, that allow me to discover, on a daily basis, a little bit more the amazing people and cultures around me and learn and learn again!
