Amazing Teen: Hannah Taylor

You see something in the world you are unhappy with. You believe you can bring change about to this issue that doesn’t sit right with you and you take action to bring about this change. Many say it’s not that simple, but Hannah Taylor is a 13-year-old girl who will prove all those who are skeptical wrong. This 13-year-old started the Ladybug Foundation at the young age of 8, because she wanted to help the homeless. She was inspired to do so, because when she was very young, she was walking down the street with her mother and saw a homeless man eating out of a garbage can. Since that moment, she was not able to get the image out of her head. She kept asking herself and those around her such as her mother about why this man had to live this way. Why wasn’t anyone helping him? Her mother explained to her that this man did not have a home because he did not have enough money to afford one. Hannah could not and would not accept this as an answer. It wasn’t a good enough answer for why this man had to live the way he did. So, she decided to do something about it she created the Ladybug Foundation–ladybug being her lucky mascot she named her charity after. Her goal is to raise awareness about homelessness as being an issue in Canada and her foundation also collects money in order to try and give better lifestyles to the homeless. Hannah even speaks in major conferences around the world to see what help can be offered. She has spoken in events such as the United Way and Girl Guides of Canada. Hannah has five goals for her foundation, they are:

  1. To teach people that homeless people are just like you and me they just need us to love them and care for them.
  2. To teach everyone to treat homeless people like family, because if you do that, you will love them in all the right ways and you will treat them in all the right ways and care for them in all the right ways.
  3. To teach people that no one should ever eat from a garbage can, or live without a bed or a home and to let them know that there are people that have to because they have no choice.
  4. To ask every person who will listen to help however they can to make life for our homeless people better.
  5. To teach people that homelessness is not sad if you help.

See something you don’t like in the world? Take action, because like Hannah Taylor, you can bring about change that you want to see in the world.
