Pregnant Soldiers can get Court Martialed?

We all know that the military forms a different branch within every nation and because of that, they have their own set of rules and regulations, because keeping a nation protected requires some special stuff. A new policy set by General Anthony Cucolo is placing “pregnancy” under reasons for getting a Court Martial for either a man or a woman. Getting a Court Martial in the military is a big no-no. It’s the military court and I don’t think anyone likes to go to court (except maybe a lawyer, but that’s beside the point. Heh).  A reason for the new rule, he states, is because it is unfair to those who are deployed to fight with absentee comrades caused by them being irresponsible and breaks the unity of the soldiers. Another, is because he needs all the soldiers he can get and with a limited number of soldiers, every single one is precious; among other things. Despite the General stating that it would most likely not be prosecuted, the rule is still there and it is a possibility.

Sooo, what you think, GBD? Does the General make some valid points? Should pregnancy be under Court Martial possibilities? Yes, no? Why, or why not?

court martialed? that’s something new to my ears. anyway, only those who purposefully had sex and got impregnated to avoid being deployed to war…not to be court-martialed because that’s too much of a punishment. suspension is ok…
i salute women in the army because of their bravery… it’s not easy to be in the army…

I am a man but i have great respect for women this because my mom is a very important part of my life since dad died and i have done my best to look after her . I think women should not be repromanded for being pregnant. That is a life that is the most important thing while i know it does hinder service still geez that is not right to punish a lady . 2 sisters i am the baby of the family and surrounded by women so you learn respect and love and dad taught me manners seems the gov needs to learn manners

That is so dumb! I really don’t think women should be getting in any kind of trouble for being pregnant! Accidental pregnancies happen all the time,-and especially for people in the army, I would think that’s less likely because they’re away from their partners all the time but if it does, then thats a great view of their love lives. They shouldnt have to have trouble with that.

I fail to see the bad in being pregnant. Maybe they just want to start a family? I’m not sure what to think in this particular subject. I need to form some solid answers concerning this subject. *pondering*

i can understand why they would put such restrictions in place– they want to ensure that your number one priority is your duty to your country. and when a woman is pregnant her priorities shift, so that no longer would she be able to give of herself in the same way as her child would be her priority.

the only exception i would want to make would be women who have been sexually assaulted and find themselves pregnant. i know that reports of this kind of abuse probably don’t reflect the actual occurance due to the stigma, and i think these kinds of issues would need to be addressed alongside the issue of the court martial.
