Humanity a Super Power?

Hey GBDers!
My English class presentation has provoked much thought and I came up with something that will work in a way as a discussion, hopefully? LOL Anyway, here is what was asked of me to present on one of the slides. “If you could have a super power, what would it be?” This alone roused up endless possibilities! Google ’super powers’ and you’ll know what I mean!
Now, there was something interesting that popped into my mind and that was ‘What about humanity?’ You may be wondering what I’m up to here, but would you consider humanity a super power? Think on that for a minute. We humans are capable of doing so much, GBD alone is a statement of what humanity is capable of doing. This may sound tacky but our humanity packs us up with a bundle of super powers. Some have a great sense of leadership while some are fit to serve (ie. firefighters?). We have great abilities that help us bring change to the world, impact lives, to make this world a better place to live in.
So as you may have guessed I wrote in my presentation Humanity. Sure it would be fun to get to places really fast or even be invincible but I rather enjoy this awesome super power that has been given to me and use it to make a difference in the world.
Now, our super power ‘humanity’ is unique within all of us. How can I say this? We have a specialty. So…mine would have to be the ability to write (which I’m still developing). Through my writing I expect to help people be the best they can be and perhaps someday I hope I’m able to teach others this awesome ability of writing and how to get creative with it around the world.
Would you think humanity a super power? (If not, please explain, we love discussions!
) If so, what’s your special ability? What change do you expect to bring to the world with it?

January 26, 2010While I personally think that the definition of “super” is rather subjective, I love that you bring up the idea that humanity is as good as any super power. The greatest characteristic of humanity that comes to mind is empathy, because that makes each individual unique and is something no machine can duplicate.
