Trippin’ with Tracey: Workshoppin’ -Part 1
(Picture: Croke Park Stadium)
Seeing as how Tracey and her adventures are just too awesome to handle, this post has been split into two parts. Think of it like a sandwich, the first bite is Oooooooh so delicious! But the last bite? Oh Man! So worth the savory wait. Don’t forget to leave room for desert!
Hey Ladies!
I’m back again for some more on what’s happening with me and the Kenya trip!
So late January we were all invited up to Croke Park Stadium in Dublin. It was to attend a huge workshop that was taking place for the students and teachers who were traveling to partner schools all over the world and for others who were simply just linking with them.
The morning we went was painful…. very painful…. a lot of us aren’t morning people, so getting up at 5am was one of the most challenging things we ever had to do. The three hour train ride up consisted of sleeping, eating and more sleeping!
When we got there, we ordered two taxis to help bring the ten of us to the stadium. When we reached our destination, we were shown where to go and it was nothing like we had expected! The place was huge!! It over-looked the grounds and there were hundreds of people there from all over Ireland; all displaying different stands about their trip.
So we got to work, putting up our stand and exploring for a bit. It was nice, because the 8 of us got to sit down and have a good ol’ laugh together before we got to work for the day.
The day started with all of us assembling in a huge room to have a talk about what would be happening for the day, as well as guest speakers. The Kenyan Ambassador even came and she gave us a lovely speech. We were each given a name tag with different stickers so we’d know what group to be in.
The first thing I took part in was a treasure hunt. Basically, we divided into groups of four with all different people in each group. I met some lovely people doing this and it was also a laugh to do! We basically were given a sheet with lots of questions and had to go around to all of the different stands to get the answers. They said the winners would get prizes… but we didn’t stay long enough, cos’ we needed to get an early train home.
After that, we had lunch and because we had traveled such a long distance, we were served a hot dinner. Chicken curry to be precise. The 8 of us sat together along with a girl we met at the last workshop we attended in December. She had already traveled to Kenya, so she told us all about it and we all had a great time. One downfall, though… the food they gave us did not fill us up at all! We were still starving after it! What happened next was very funny; the people who attended the workshop and who traveled short distances to get there were given sausages and chips in a little box, but we wanted some of that, too! We weren’t allowed to take some though, cos’ there was only enough for everybody. That’s when we saw her…
I’ll talk to ye again soon!
Peace & Love,
Tracey
P.S: Now, now ladies! Don’t blame Tracey for the cliffhanger. The post isn’t over with yet! Tune in for the next installment soon! Besides, it’s always more interesting when you’re left wondering. MUAHAHAHA!
