Announcing the NEW GBD Teen Board of Directors…
After the long hours of trying to decide between all of the great applications, we finally had to pick. It was sooo hard! And we appreciate everyone who participated. Everyone was uber talented and thanks to you all for making this decision harder…Sort of. You owe us an Aspirin bottle!
Now for the new members on the Board of Directors….
Drum Roll please! *drums* Ta-Da!
Maia, age 17. Pennsylvania.
Maia is an internet junkie who looks for awareness in her friends and someone she can live on the edge in a mosh pit with. She loves to create change and has a flare for blogging and dreams of studying abroad next year. Hopefully somewhere with mosh pits.
Susana, age 18. Salt Lake City, Utah.
Susana is currently madly in love with Facebook and dancing her way into the hearts of honest people she can trust. She can be found exploring Dictionary.com, but shhhh, don’t tell Facebook.
Stephanie, age 15. Toronto, Canada.
Stephanie loves music and appreciates an open mind. Although she can’t play many musical instruments, she loves the diversity in music and the power it has to transcend time and cultures to unite us all under one simple melody.
Tracey, age 17. Ireland.
Tracey is a creative, enthusiastic gal who has a deep love for music. Anyone out there surprised? If you follow Tracey’s contributions on GBD, you are already familiar with her amazing play-lists. Picking up a pen and writing down a song while hanging with friends, or out on the road is Tracey’s favorite form of expression. Tracey loves to surround herself with gals who have a fun, bubbly personality and a positive out-look on life.
Caitlin, age 16. State College, Pennsylvania.
Caitlin is a language fiend who looks for honest people she can talk to in French and Spanish. Watch out, she’ll make you crave pancakes when she’s not catching up on her favourite TV shows.
Marlee, age 17. Portland, Oregon.
A poet at heart, Marlee likes honesty in friends and family, an important trait to look for in peeps. This gal feels her best volunteering and helping those less fortunate than herself; an inspiration that sparked after visiting some villages in Guatemala with her family.
Lucy, age 19. Costa Rica.
Lucy is exploding with creativity and passion. Hey, Lucy, how do you like to express yourself? “THERE ARE SOO MANY THINGS! Art in all its types, shapes and sizes, from designing clothes, photography, music and make up to dancing the tango!” Lucy sees faces as a live canvas to create art. She surrounds herself with friends she can rely on and trust; a girl friend is someone that she can laugh with, cry with, fight with, and forgive with.
Jenny, age 16. Brooklyn, New York.
Jenny strives to save trees when doing homework. She loves her friends to be considerate and will soon be taking Binks on in a movie battle royale. A battle which she may win by a box.
Lauren, age 18. Davis, California.
Currently in L.A studying some cool things, Lauren has some major passion and inspiration with anything related to Disney and especially Disneyland. Why, you may ask? Because it’s the one place on Earth where we can all revert back to our inner kid and stay younger for one more day.
Today, March 8th, also happens to be International Women’s Day! Did you know that? We thought it would be a great tribute to announce these ladies today on OUR International Day. One that transcends cultures and celebrates all of the achievements fabulous women have made from past, present and future.
I was going to pummel Jen, GBD’s fabulous Newsletter Editor for more deets, but alas, she jumped on a plane to a remote location to avoid my heavy interview tactics. Instead, I’ll leave you with this nifty website dedicated to International Women’s Day for more info. Or better yet! Await the next newsletter
Thanks again, ladies!
