Reading is Sexy

In honour of me finally completing a Brontë trifecta, I decided to make this ice breaker all about reading.

Today’s ice breaker will place but a wee strain on that gooey object inside your skull, which I like to fondly refer to as a brain. All you have to do is type the last novel you read and what you thought of it. Tis not the least bit difficult, right? Oh, and don’t worry, if you don’t read, I promise not to show up at your door with a hard-cover book to inflict any harm with. *looks around*

My latest book I’ve read & have been reading I’m still on like Chapter 18 for some reason I can’t finish it not because it’s bad or anything it’s actually amazing. Which is “The Lovely Bones” I watched the movie & had to buy the book it’s such a sad book & movie but overall great book. Besides that I have also read “My sister’s keeper” I’m big into the movies made by books. :D

I’ve been into reading quirky books lately as opposed to lengthy novels. My recent fave is “Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.
It is hilarious. It is touching. It is written alphabetically, like a literal Encyclopedia, with her giving her thoughts on random things that go into that letter category. I love it. It makes me want to record my little thoughts on the most random things. READ IT!

Last thing I read was “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom. I love its quirkiness by starting at the ‘end’, and how everything was connected. I read it a bit apprehensively, expecting some kind of wishy-washy tale of angels and whatnot. But I’m glad I was wrong. It’s actually a story about life and how we all affect each other’s life like pebbles in the river. I highly recommend you read it. :D

I had the same trouble with ‘The Lovely Bones’. I couldn’t quite seem to find the will sometimes to keep reading, although it really was an amazing book. However, I think it was because it didn’t quite live up to its emotional potential. I dunno. O.O

The last book I read was Spilling Over by Sabrina Ward Harrison. It was great! It’s kind of a journal, of her feelings. Visually the book was amazing she interweaves her writings into, sort of scrapbook like collages. I wanted to rip out all the pages and use them to decorate my walls, but I think the library frowns upon vandalizing their books ;) I just recently starting to get back into reading due to a heavy course-load. I forgot how nice it is to get caught up in a good book. :) Currently I’m reading Wuthering Heights, I saw a PBS Masterpiece Theatre version of the book, and LOVED it, since the book is usually always better than the movie I had to start reading it.

@Susy The Lovely Bones is one of my favorite books :) What did you think of the differences between the movie and book in the ending of My Sister’s Keeper?

@Alyssa: Ooo! Wuthering Heights is one of my fav books! :D I totally balled haha. GET TISSUES! :P The movie with Sir Lawrence Olivier and Merle Oberon from 1939 is really different than the book. I dunno how the one that played on PBS is though haha.

The last book I read/currently reading still is Fight Club, it’s taking me FOREVER to finish despite it’s shortness cause my time seems to shrink every day haha. But I thought the movie was utter brilliance and so far the book is as well, so YAY! I recommend it to anyone. :)

@Candice21 oh I totally feel you I don’t think it lived up to at least in the emotional sense. But yeah haha I’m glad I’m not the only one who couldn’t finish it when they wanted to haha it’s so freaking hard sometimes

Oh goodness, I haven’t had the time to finish reading a book for pleasure in so long! I always start books, get busy, and then forget what happened. All you ladies have provided what sound like some interesting recommendations, though!

@ Alyssa: I LOVE Sabrina Ward Harrison! I’m kind of a scrapbook geek. And Proud! You should Google Keri Smith. She also rocks in the creative world. Her blog “Wish Jar” is fabulous.

The last book I read was Along for a Ride by Sarah Dessen. I love Sarah Dessen books. They feel real, not just fake, overly exaggerated people and places. It’s definitely books you can relate to. Along for a Ride was pretty good, but my favorite one by her is The Truth About Forever and I recommend This Lullaby.
