What Does 3-D Mean?

So I went to see “Clash of the Titans” last night (yay for half-price movie day) and I’ll be honest here, I went in the hopes of seeing some ripped men in 3-D, because I pretty much figured the mythology would be all messed up( it is the MO of just about any movie). I did not get to see ripped men in 3-D, but that’s not what I left the theater thinking about.  I of course left complaining about how creepy Hades was! I mean, HELLO?! GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD, PEOPLE! He is supposed to be a sly slice of evil. Not to mention that Zeus did not have his pure white hair and beard, the Gods/Goddesses had way too much armor that wasn’t even really Greek-styled and Medusa had the body of a snake. You know what, though? People didn’t care. Nope, they were just all completely entranced by the 3-D, as it has been with every other movie I have seen in 3-D. I just can’t get enough of those sexy glasses :P

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie and I especially loved Sam Worthington’s voice, but I still left complaining about the mythology and shortened “big” action scene, but I had to wonder how different the movie may have been if not for 3-D…Maybe I would’ve gotten my 6-packs….Don’t judge!

What I would like to know is what do you think easier access to 3-D movies means? Will it just continue to make movies even more awesome, or will it turn into a monster? Will it take away from the other elements, or simply prove to enhance them?

P.S. Those glasses mess with your popcorn eating ability! More of it ends up down my shirt that it does in my mouth!

Haha G hilarious yet interesting post. I went to see Clash of the Titans this past Thursday before it came out & didn’t see it in 3-D just because it was already sold out so we watched it in regular ole 2-D or like they say ‘normal’ but I have got to say I am actually glad I didn’t see it in 3-D just because I heard by sooo many people that it wasn’t as good in 3-D like they had hoped it took away so many things especially the effects. I still wanna go see it in 3-D just to see the difference because honestly I LOVED that movie one of the best in my opinion of the year so far.

To answer your question I’m not sure I think in a couple years they said they were going to make the screen 3-D so we don’t have to wear the glasses anymore & unlike you G I don’t dig the glasses just because I have to wear my glasses so when I do go see a 3-D movie I have to wear the 3-D glasses on top of my normal glasses & it’s not fun haha. Anywho I really hope they do do the screen 3-D that would be pretty awesome but I’m not sure if it would ruin the movie or not I would hope not. It depends on the movie some may enhance others may take away so not quite sure which way to go lol.

Whooo that was my long ramble lol & OMG yes I hate when my popcorn goes in my shirt but it’s not just when I wear the glasses…yes yes I am that clumsy lol.

Great post :D

I haven’t watched that movie yet, but for the most part I like the 3D movies they dish-out these days. Granted as long as they aren’t sucky ones. Like Up, Avatar, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Alice in Wonderland was cool too.

My mom would’ve gotten a heart attack if 300 was in 3D O_o

hahahahha nice post G! :D

If they didn’t have all of that facial hair, I would’ve had a heart attack, too :P Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy some roughness, just not when it’s almost as much as the hair on my head. :P

Susy, we can start a popcorn down shirt support group! Maybe rig up some contraption to prevent the popcorn from going down there…Oh and dude, I bet you can’t wait until the screen is so 3-D, we won’t need the glasses, haha. That must suck to have to wear two pairs. :(

I went to the midnight premiere of Clash of the Titans, I was kind of disappointed though. The story was great I loved Sam Worthington, and Gemma Arterton(loved her in Tess of D’Urbervilles!). But the 3D did nothing for me, I kinda felt gipped that I paid extra for it. I even fell asleep at parts :0 This was the first 3d movie I’ve seen in the theatres, so if that’s how 3D is going to be I’ll save the extra $6 and watch in 2D.
I have a feeling that for the next year or so we’re going to be getting alot of 3D movies, some will be great, but I think most will be mediocre at best, and depend on the 3D effects instead of a good story, or good acting.
I guess I missed the boat with Avatar, maybe seeing that would have given me a better attitude about 3D :)

I haven’t seen many movies at all recently, but in general, I feel like 3D is a great asset when used appropriately. I enjoy movies like Up that use 3D to create greater depth of atmosphere, and not just for gimmicks. I kind of hate it when they have objects flying out toward you – fun at first, but annoying after while!

@G Haha yeah okay def we should start a support group for popcorn falling in the shirt it’s really uncomfortable so I think a lot of girls would join haha. I had an idea to make these napkins you place around your neck & tuck in your shirt so the popcorn just slides down instead of going down the shirt haha. & yeah I cannot wait till they make it to the screen instead of glasses I hate it it’s very uncomfortable every time I have to hold my hand up to my glasses so they won’t fall. So def can’t wait for that lol

I saw that with my friends. I love Sam Worthington ever since AVATAR, but he should have had waaaayyyyy more lines. He said like what five-ten things in an hour and a half movie. I mean what the flip? The effects were cool, though and I loved the action with mythological creatures! 3-D has taken over every movie so far and it is awful. My friend can’t watch it cause she has glasses and it irritates her eyes. =( Plus it is just too much. I mean horror movies are scary as it is, but now making it look like they pop out at you, that is terrifying! Anywho, it is kind of turning into a monster.
