SolarBeat
I like to think of it as a music box for the solar system. Ya know, kinda like the music boxes with a ballerina thingy that bounces out when you open the box and then pretty music starts playing? Yeah Kinda like that! Except, there’s no box, and no ballerina. More like a computer, our solar system, music, and some wicked cool technology. Booyah!
SolarBeat is an ambient little thing-a-ma-bob that makes prettyful sounds. Prettyful, I tell ya! It was created by Whitevinyl’s Luke Twyman, using orbital frequencies (aka sounds made by the planets when they spin around in circles) from the solar system and looping them on a track.
At the bottom of the screen you can see how many years have passed by for each planet, it’s interesting to see just how fast one planet moves compared to another another. You can also control the tempo speed of the planets, so you can make them go really fast and make the music go quicker, or make it go slower and hear the sounds individually. I’ll tell ya one thing, hearing the planets makes everything sound beauuuuttiiiffulll, but Mercury can get pretty annoying if you’re playing it too fast, lol.
If you’re eager to hear Pluto (YAY! PLUTO IS INCLUDED!) it’s gonna take ya a while, ’cause it takes around 1035 “Mercury Years” or 243 “Earth Years” to even hear it once, but it’s worth the wait! It’s really nice and relaxing to keep it playing in the background while you surf the web (or read this, heh) and this SolarBeat is WICKED COOL. Who ever said science was boring?! I’ve totally been distracted on it for a while. Muahaha!

Fascinating, isn’t it? Looking at SolarBeat really makes ya realize how time just flies by, but the world keeps turning no matter what.
Play Away, Ladies! And comment while you listen to the sweet sounds of our little universe!
