Premarital No-no?

I’m not sure if any of y’all are aware of this, but back in the days of the one-room school houses, teachers were not allowed to teach if they were married and they certainly were not allowed to keep the company of men in their one-room apartments that had ONE bucket of water in case of a fire. Pssshhh, how many do you think actually followed these rules? I bet those wee apartments and possibly those school rooms saw a lot of action, if ya know what I mean…

Ironically, these days, there’s always some teacher on maternity leave, so, we’ve come a long way, right? Oh, I’m not so sure about that one…At least not when Florida is involved.

G, what did Florida do? Why are you shunning them? I’m not shunning anyone! And Florida itself did nothing wrong, except for not having me vacationing there right now :P However, a school in Florida did do something wrong, at least in my opinion, so I’d like to share it with y’all and see what you think!

A teacher at a Christian school in Gatorville was fired, because her daughter was conceived several weeks before her actual wedding. OH, THE HORROR! OH, THE WORLD IS ENDING! I think this may be the very cause of the 2012 hysteria. PREMARITAL SEX WILL END THE WORLD! :P

If you want to read more about this and you really should, check it out here .

Seriously?! This actually happened?! …SERIOUSLY?!?!
I don’t think that was appropriate firing her like that. Schools, be it Christian or not shouldn’t fire teachers like that for their own personal lives! That’s just wrong!

Teachers are there to teach! They’re not there to be judged by what they do or don’t do with their personal lives!

Okay…so that’s my point of view. ;)

Thanks for sharing G!

WHAT???? Wow that is soooo crazy I can’t believe they would fire her just for that that is so freaking ridiculous. I’m shocked at the way people act for things that are just so little or so ridiculous. 2010 is crazy in my opinion this has been the weirdest year so far with ridiculousness lol. WOW is all I have to say lol.

@Jenipher exactly I agree with you 100% I mean she is there to teach what are they going to prove to anyone or anything by firing her they are going to look horrible if not worse because they are firing a good teacher (well I dont’ know if she was good or not but still) I mean they should have given her a talk or something instead of just firing her altogether oi :( that is so sad

While I think firing her was a bit extreme, I can kind of see where they are coming from…sort of.
I went to a Catholic elementary school and they stressed premarital relations as a very bad thing. It may not have been that the school had anything against the teacher, it may only have been that they didn’t want her to advocate abstinence before marriage because that would make her a hypocrite. Though I still don’t think they should have fired her.

I think thats a bit of an unneccessary and over the top punishment just for that, and it has nothing to do with her job so I dunno that’s just my punishment. Real interesting post btw!
