Heyyyyyyy, Ladies!!!

It’s Thursday once again! And guess what that means? Well, of course, another blog from me, durrr lol. :)   *shrieks* How exciting!

Anyway, I have a great blog post this week….Languages!!! As some of you know, or may not know, my first language is Spanish, but I went to school and learned English. Now, I barely speak Spanish, because I’m so used to English, and I love English; it’s so interesting and I just love it. I’m fluent in both Spanish and English, and I speak a little Italian. I understand it completely, but I can’t speak it as well as I would like to. I can also understand Portuguese and a lot of the European languages.

I am learning French, Polish, Bosnian, Russian, and Chinese. Why, you ask? Well, mostly because I am in LOVE with culture and languages. Learning about the way other people, and countries speak is just incredible. I love the fact that we don’t all speak the same and that we don’t all have the same culture, or the way we all have different everything, it’s all so interesting.

So, my question this week is: What languages do you speak? Which ones would you want to learn and why?

Post away, Ladies :)

Awesome! :D Languages are truly fascinating! :D :D

It’s great to hear you’re learning so many languages. Must be really fun!

Well, Spanish is my first language as well but when I learned English in the 3rd grade I quickly became fluent and love speaking English most of the time. lol

I’m learning French which is awesome! And I’m hoping to learn Italian and Portuguese. Hopefully I can learn some Arabic too. :D

Great post Susy! :)
I speak Portuguese, very little English, and I speak the so-called “portunhol” which is a mixture of Portuguese with Spanish haha:) it is easy for Portuguese speakers to learn Spanish, languages are very similar, so when I speaking the “portunhol “People generally understand.
I speak fluent Portuguese (obvious), and English is better just writing, because it is cruel for people to hear me speaking English.
I want to learn French and Japanese! It’s more a curiosity to learn new languages to be able to know people from different countries, most surely is very good, people with different cultures are a source of their knowledge and various other things that can be learned. :D

Wow Susy you are ambitious! With all the languages you can travel anywhere and fit in!
Sadly I only speak english :( I know a little of spanish, I read and understand it somewhat, but I’m not good at speaking it. I want to learn french, because it’s such a romantic language. But I REALLY want to learn russian, simply because it sounds sooo cool!!

Wow that’s incredible that you already know 2 languages and is taking the time to learn so many others! My first language was a mix of mandarin as well as english, but I would love to speak tagalog because my dad is from the phillipines so all my relatives speak it and I sometimes feel out of the loop! haha although they speak english as well so it’s not too bad

=D
I’ve always been fascinated by other cultures as well! I’m half French, half Lebanese, but I can’t speak arabic. I really wish my dad had spoken to me in arabic when I was young; now I have to actually make this huge effort to learn it lol! It would have been so much easier at 4 years old! (sounds lazy doesn’t it? xD)

So French is my first language. I’ve been learning english for years now, and I’m completely in love with it! I used to watch American shows and repeat every single thing the actors would say, until I sounded exactly like them. It may sound ridiculous but now thanks to that, people tell me I have an american accent =) so yayy!! haha. Oh and I’m learning Spanish but I suck at it =( yet Spanish is such a sexy language!

@ Alyssa: I’ve heard some people say that too (that French is a romantic language)! but I’ve never really understood what it was all about =P I wish I could hear what French sounds like from a foreign ear!

@ Suzy – Actually not a language. haha is the language that Brazilians use when they know little Spanish. Then becomes a “Portunhol. The words of Spanish and Portuguese are somewhat similar, so even if you do not know two languages fluently, you can make people understand what you’re saying. :)

Wow, I feel lame…I speak English. That’s about it! Well, I took Spanish in high school, but I’m not even conversational because I haven’t kept up with it in years!

Ha lame… I think I just posted a half sentence..sorry. Anywho, Russian is cool and I’d love to learn it. I wanted to be a linguistics major but changed to neuroscience. Little bit of a leap there.
However, languages I can speak are English, Spanish, French, Italian, Afrikaans, Arabic, and I’m working on Mandarin Chinese. Fun stuff.

this is cool… the first language i learned to speak was Cebuano – the language f Southern Philippines which is spoken by majority of those who live in the archipelago. then in school i learned how to speak Tagalog (the National langue) fluently (it was easy though). but i learned English through writing. i have lots of poem since 5th grade, but i suck at speaking. the fear of mis pronouncing the words was the reason why. i learned how to speak Spanish when i learned that my mom was of Spanish descent…then I learned Chinese when i also discovered that my dad went to Chinese school and he’s also of Chinese descent (well, so much secrets in the family). i also know a bit of Bahasa Malaysia (Malaysian language), Korean, and Japanese. i’m currently studying the Norwegian, Deutsch, Danish, and Irish (i love their stiff accent when they speak the old English way)… hehehe… wish i’ll learn them all (near to fluency) in time…
