The Beach!

I love the beach: to me, it’s a place where I can relax, but it means a lot more than just that. I know most people like it to actually get in the water, but I like it for the exact opposite reason. Plus, the water in Washington is freezing! You can’t even get in it, not even in the summer, but you don’t need water for the beach to be fun. You can sit and read a book and watch the sunset go down. It’s absolutely beautiful and I think that it’s something a lot of us have in common.

Whether we are there for different reasons, we all love the beach. It’s very rare that you find a person who hates it. It’s almost impossible: you think “beach” and you smile. It’s hard not to, it’s a place that makes you smile. For instance, the beach in Washington is so amazing! Not only is it beautiful, but it’s right next to the ferry so it’s cool to see the boat leave and come back. Plus, the sunsets there are just amazing. Just another great trait of beaches!

No matter which beach you’re going to, there are many things that you need to remember to take to the beach, so here’s a list of just a few:

1. Sunblock: one of the most important items to bring, you are not only helping your skin, you are making sure you don’t look like a tomato by the end of the day.

2. Blanket: you never know if you want to sit down or just have a place to put all of your stuff, so make sure to take a blanket. (The beach can be pretty dirty at times).

3. Book: Me personally, I think everyone should carry a book no matter where they go…that’s just me though. Anyway, if you are anything like me, then you might want to take a book, so you can sit and relax and enjoy the noise of the beach.

4. Water/snacks: honestly, sometimes home snacks are better than buying some so it can be good to bring snacks and water bottles: just in case you get hungry or thirsty.

Those are just a few of the things you can bring along with (depending on the beach) your trusty pet.

Now, since the things you can bring have been covered, here’s some of the things you shouldn’t bring:

1. Ipod/computer: some of you might go, “Uh, but I love my ipod…What if I want to listen to music?” Well, if you are at the beach, then you shouldn’t be listening to music. One of the best parts of going to the beach is: listening to the amazing sounds that are inside the beach, the way the ocean crashes, the seagulls, the chatter, all of these and more are the reasons to love the beach.

2. Phone: you shouldn’t be distracted by texting or calling people. The beach is a place where you go to relax and enjoy your surroundings. Phones are just distractions.

3. Tennis shoes: when you picture ‘beach’, you don’t picture tennis shoes/sneakers. Why, you ask? Because most likely, you are tempted to stick your feet in the sand while walking. Having to take off your sneakers and then your socks is a pain. Instead, bring sandals and you can easily slip them off, or even walk with them on

Remember, if you are going to the beach, relax and enjoy it as much as you can. The beach is a beautiful place.

Speaking of the beach, what better time of the year to visit it then in Summer! And speaking of Summer, check out this fabulous Summer newsletter called: Summer Fabulousness. We know, the title rocks it. ;) Enjoy, everybody!

I recently spent the long week on a small island with no computer, no phone and no internet…I actually cried at the beauty of sitting on a cliff and over looking the water early in the morning…it was a glorious moment of peace and it was soooo amazing!

Awww that sounds so amazing Kendra. I wish we had somewhere like that here because that would be THE best thing ever. The beaches here are amazing but they always have people, don’t get me wrong I love people lol…but I would like somewhere that is more peaceful. And I bet it does look amazing in the mornings. :)
