Street Style!
(Pic: * How ironic? While walking in Rittenhouse Square Park, a beautiful butterfly landed upon my clipboard of notes, right next to the GBD logo’s butterfly.

Are ya ready?

The opportunity of photographing various styles and ethnicities, especially associated with the quotes from those photographed is so meaningful for adolescent girls – in high school you are entering a building of standardization; tests, trends, college admissions, etc. and it’s difficult to support your own individuality – the people I photographed I think could be great style and self-empowerment
role models – they are diverse, thoughtful, and incredible women. They can show girls that they can have their own unique style and pull it off with confidence.
Meet Marisa a smart, passionate, and artistic young woman. Marisa says her style has evolved greatly from middle school to her senior year in high school. When she was uncertain about her style she would wear hand-me-downs from her older sister, but now she loves a mixture of bohemian and preppy clothes discovered in the forgotten corners of a thrift shop or the sale racks of trendy stores. Her favorite quality about herself is being a good listener, and in others-she is inspired by those who walk to the beat of his or her own drum.
Meet Sami! A fun, athletic, and adventurous young woman! She is currently a senior in high school. She is wearing a free people top, the adorable bag is from Urban Outfitters, and the shorts – credit to American eagle. Her favorite feature about her self? Her legs – she is a runner, and they power her through her races. She admires a sense of humor in others, even in fashion. Sami aspires to pursue a career in medicine; she is fascinated by the power of medicine, and motivated by a love of helping others.
Meet Anita, a dog-loving, urban dwelling, young woman. She is rocking a plaid top and magenta skirt from H+M, and she found the flats in a small vintage store in Philly. Anita describes her style as being eclectic, vibrant, and a reflection of her mood and personality. Anita’s favorite feature in herself is her smile, and in others, kindness towards others.
Meet Katie! This girl is full of energy, happiness, and confidence. Katie is inspired by music, and hopes to pursue a career in the music industry to help bands become recognized for their music. She has probably been to more concerts than one can keep track of; from local bands, friends’ bands, or famous artists- Katie is on top of the music scene. Her favorite feature in herself are her eyes, and in others- individuality.
