Okay so this week, the blog post is going to be a bit more er uh…sadder than normal.

So this past Tuesday, I was watching C-Span….(Don’t ask me why *shrugs*)….I don’t know if you guys are aware of the whole “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. The “don’t ask, don’t tell” (DADT) policy bans openly gay, lesbian or bisexual Americans from enlisting in the military. Which, by the way, is absolutely ridiculous. Well, the Senate was going to vote to either keep it or repeal it.  Anywho, they finally voted…and guess what happened?? Yup, that’s right. The Senate voted to repeal it! Can you believe that?! *disgusted face* I’m so saddened by this because of how ridiculous this is, it just makes me hate politics even more. And to top it all off, they lost by only a few votes (13 votes to be exact). It was a tight race with 56 opposed and 43 with.

What do you think about this whole “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. Do you think it’s just or unjust? Do you think that the senate was wrong to do this?

I think its really unfair to be honest.. I think that if they want to fight for their country then they should be given the chance just like any other person would be.. Just because they have different “beliefs” in things doesn’t mean that they should be treated differently or treated as less of a person!! I would call for a re-vote!!!

People should be a able to express what they are freely, we are all different. It is not fair for those who veer in other directions than the norm. Of course! What do they have against it, how does it hurt the country or anyone else for that matter?! We are supposed to be the country that is balanced and fair. What happened?!

I think the DADT Policy is complete stupidity!! Really, your not gonna let someone who is willing, fight for their country because they are gay?! Why has this not been overturned yet? It makes me so angry, and so frustrated. What is wrong with our government, they need to be accepting all the help they can to fight, and end this war, and they are turning away able bodied people over sexual preference. What are they afraid it’s contagious! (Insert dramatic eye roll here)
I’m punching the keys of my computer now because I’m so angry, arghhh!!!!
Seriously the gov’t needs to stop wasting our time overturn this BS and focus on something like health care or ending this recession!

is there any logical reason as to how the DADT policy helps any sort of situation? i can’t think of any. it’s disgusting, disturbing, prejudiced, and stripping one of their human rights. in modern times we should be progressing toward all sorts of equality rather than falling backwards

Us women are so powerful with our opinions.
But I agree it’s not going to hurt those who are straight having a few different people in the army.

I was so happy when DADT was repealed. I mean, just because someone is gay, bi, or of any other sexual persuasion that doesn’t change the fact that they are there for the same reason as anyone else. And isn’t having that policy the same as saying that it’s okay to be homophobic? At least the DADT policy tells me that, which is completely wrong! Here’s to hoping that America continues moving forward and equalizing all rights, for all citizens.
