Childhood Dreams

When you were a kid what did you dream about? What did you want to be when you grew up?

This morning, for gawd knows what reason, I had this huge urge to watch Disney movies, and right now, as I watch still my favorite movie to date, The Lion King, there’s this huge rush of all my childhood memories. Childhood is a time when imagination is run rampant and where possibilities really soar. Some of these cherished memories of my younghood include me prancing about my room acting like a lion or some other form of hero, playing with toys that were – much to my mom’s dismay- strewn about the bedroom easy to be painfully stepped on, I also remember of what I wanted to be when I grew up. I remember I wanted to be a variety of things ranging from a detective, to a roller coaster engineer (that idea busted fairly quickly when I realized all the math I would have to take. Hehe), to a movie critic (c’mon, watching movies and then reviewing them as my job? HELLZ YEAH!) but slowly those ideas popped and turned into some more reasonable ones, ones that I knew I could achieve and would give some practicality to my life that the others didn’t. I remember that I was going to do all these amazing things and change so many lives, while that hasn’t happened yet, I guess those dreams still linger and I hope I can make them come true.

What did you imagine as a kid? What did your imagination/playtime consist of? Have your dreams changed since then? If yes, How so and Why do you think that is? What are they?

Hehe well when I was a kid I was put into martial arts classes and whenever I saw a kids movies or any movie with crazy fighting action like ninja turtles, I would think of myself as somebody who fights to help people and then kinda hide somewhere(not the sewers though) – kinda like a vigilante.. I still dream of helping people but I would like to minus the fighting part just a little bit, I’ve kinda changed my way of helping people and that is not by fighting.. My dream right now while I’m still in high school is to become a sports doctor or become a trainer for some peeps or big sports teams. I think that I changed to wanting to become a doctor because through the years of being in martial arts – the first rule is to avoid the use of violence unless in the situation of self-defense. I still haven’t been in a real fight yet, so I say thats a good thing. My way of helping people is by being their doctor!! And to just be a total kid, I still want to be a ninja turtle or like wonder woman or something just for the day!! =D

Well, when I was younger, I had a strange group of friends whom I still love! We always played Dragons, pretending we were all different types of a dragon in our own kingdoms! Haha, we were pretty strange, making funny noises! I always wanted to be a lion when I grew up or work with lions. Almost everyday I watched Lion King because I was soooo obsessed with that movie! It still is the best movie I have ever seen that and Lion King II!!!!! Oh my gosh I have seen that movie like more than a million times! OR the usual, a mermaid! Like Ariel!

I usually imagined to be my favorite animal, a lion of course, with my friends at recess. They pretended to be their favorite animal and we all lived together as a family. Yes, I don’t really want to be a lion, but I would love to travel to Nairobi, Kenya and see lions in their natural habitat. Well, I can’t actually become a lion and so my dream was shot down very quickly as a child. It was fun while it lasted, though. Hehe, I was, again, a very weird child. =)

I’ve definitely become more practical over the years, but in terms of imagination/playtime, I don’t think I’ve changed at all! I still have similar mental pictures of my fantasy worlds and whatever my imagination wants to create. Still a dreamer…;)

When I was a kid, I was always fascinated by my favourite TV show Sailor moon. Young girls fighting against evil. For love, friendship and everything they believed in…
This spirit is guiding me through my whole life. I always wanted to be like them.
Now I know that I can’t save the world with a magic stone.
But I learned that it’s important to fight for what you believe in and never give up on your own way.
Disney movies are the same. I love all of them and they were all part of my childhood. As well as the comic books from my dad. *laughs*

For me, my choldhood dreams made me who I am now.
