Hey Ladies!

So I’ve decided to get back into the regime of doing blogs on music because it’s basically what I eat, sleep and breathe and I want to share it all you guys!

Where to begin eh… can someone say Glee? I’ll be honest that when the show first started here in Ireland I didn’t really give it a chance and thought it wasn’t the greatest. But boy was I wrong! I’m in love with it now! The show has been victim to a lot of criticism from the very beginning but we all have our own opinions right? I never saw myself liking this show because I’m more into rock music and didn’t think I’d like the pop route they took. But what I love most about it is how oringinal they make the songs. Their mashup of ‘Singing in the Rain’ and Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ was just pure genius and it was stuck in my head for days! I also loved when Neil Patrick Harris guest starred a while back and sang a cover of Aerosmith’s ‘Dream On’ with Mr Schuester (Hottie!!).
Another thing I love about Glee is that they’re encouraging people all over the world to start up Glee clubs in their school and add a bit of music to their lives! People are also putting on musicals and small performances based on Glee and they’re such good ideas. The one thing I believe in the most is that music is the soundtrack to our lives, and Glee is definately doing a great job of reminding us of that!

Ok so what am I loving at the moment? Well I’m a total rock chick, always have been, always will and I’m very darn proud of that! My room is plastered with posters of Green Day and Paramore and filled with CD’s by Linkin Park and Nickelback. So if you’re more into keeping rock n’ roll alive what you need right now is a taste of ‘The Pretty Reckless’. Fronted by Gossip’s Girl sweetheart turned rebel, Taylor Momsen, this band are definately coming into their own right now.Their very mature lyrics and strong melodies make the band what it is today. Taylor also has a very unique voice and super low range that gives the music a fresh and different sound. Definately a band to keep your eye on!

One of the most inspirational songs that I’m hearing at the moment and I’m sure most of you are familiar with it is Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’. The first time I heard this song and watched the music video I literally had tears in my eyes! It’s nice seeing Katy Perry come out of her shell a bit more and experiment with different types of music and she definately did herself proud with this one! The lyrics could brighten up anyones day and the video is just too cute and inspiring for words.

Anyone else loving Rihanna’s crazy new hair at the moment? It’s amazing how this girl can wear anything and still look stunning! After a hard year in the media Rihanna’s definately back in full force! Topping the charts at the moment with her very catchy song ‘Only Girl’ she’s showing total girl power! Her songs just make you want to get up and jump around! From watching live performances of hers it’s clear that she has raw talent and is a very grounded person. She’s a total inspiration to many people out there and continues to make great music!
