Marlee’s Book Review
Hi Ladies!
I have loved reading ever since I learned how and I have so many favorite books that it would take up a gazillion pages on the blog if I wrote about all of them. I guess I’ll have to settle for recommending just a few J Because my blog usually focuses on culture, I picked some amazing authors from different countries.
Fall On Your Knees is by Canadian author Ann-Marie MacDonald. It is a story set in Nova Scotia that spans over two generations and focuses on four sisters. There are lies, secrets and unspoken truths that reveal themselves throughout the book. The language is beautiful and the characters are intriguing!
Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight is written by a British woman named Alexandra Fuller. This book is a memoir about her African childhood growing up in what was formerly Rhodesia. The book is a humorous collection of memories that describes the violence, people, and beauty of Africa.
The House of the Spirits is written by the well known Chilean author Isabel Allende. It is a national best seller that tells of three generations of women. The book combines reality and fantasy together in a way that is completely natural. Clara the clairvoyant, her daughter Blanca, and Blanca’s daughter Alba have intertwining stories that compel the readers to think about the value of family and the line between right and wrong.
