Hello y’all gorgeous ladies!!

Hello y’all gorgeous ladies!!

Long time no see! My 2 midterm weeks -yes 2! can u believe that?- were insane which is why I hadn’t been able to post! Anyhow… back to business… Today I will be giving you a small class on makeup brushes! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

I know many of you may not see the point on getting makeup brushes… Let’s face it, many are very expensive… *coughs -M.A.C- coughs* even more expensive than makeup itself, but they are worth it! The finish you get when you use the right brushes it’s ten times better…

I do not own very expensive ones… I rather have quality than certain brand names… right now I’m using Eco Tools and loving them… They have great qualty, they are not super expensive and they are eco-friendly too haha, love ‘em! Makeup brushes actually are not just an optional extra. They help you apply ur makeup with greater accuracy and precision, and they create a significant difference to the finished look. No makeup artist worth her/his lipgloss would be found without them. So ladies, if you take your beauty regime seriously, keep on reading

Types:

  • Foundation Brush

While most of us simply rub foundation in with our fingers or apply it with sponge, we are actually missing out on something. This brush has a flat shape and long bristles, making sure that your foundation is absolutely applied and flawlessly blended. (Some makeup artists/makeup gurus say that The beauty Blender sponge works way better… I haven’t tried it but if you have let me know what you think!)

  • Concealer brush

Again, you can just use your fingers; I prefer to do so cause the heat of your hands makes the product melt, and therefore blend better. Just make sure you use your ring finger to blend! it’s the weakest to apply pressure. This brush will allow your concealer to be concentrated on the area you’re trying to cover and that has to be a good thing! Oh and it’s less messy lol… Once I ruined a tshirt cause I blended with my finger and didn’t remove the makeup after that so I accidentaly smeared it on my tee.

  • Powder brush

The momentous of all makeup brushes, used to dust loose powder over your face, setting your makeup and eliminating any shine. I personally love kabuki brushes for powder or flat brushes when using mineral makeup.

  • Eyeshadow brushes

Makeup Artists use three separate brushes on the eyes: a medium-sized one on the lid, a small one to line the socket of the eye, and a larger one to add highlighter to the area under the brow. You can also buy eyeliner brushes to apply liquid eye shadow or to blend eye shadow around the eyes for a smoky, sexy look!

Eyeliner: An eyeliner brush is a really thin and fine brush with soft bristles that help you line your eyes with precision, along the shape of the eye. Tip: If you don’t want to spend much to get an angled one check this super tip from lovely youtube makeup guru Kandee Johnson (It has tips on winged lining with both liquid eyeliner and cream/gel eyeliner, and how you can make your own super cheap angled liner brush!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SogxssqpCS8

Eyeshadow: To apply an eye shadow in the right manner you will need brushes like the contour brush, the lid brush, and the crease brush. All of these are specially designed to apply different shades of eyeshadow to different parts or the eyes.

Mascara: Mascara usually comes with a sturdy brush that applies mascara evenly to the eye lashes. Some mascara brushes also come with small comb like bristles to remove excess mascara from the eye lashes.

Eyebrow Brush: An eyebrow brush gives definition and shape to the eyebrows, giving it a clear and precise arc shape.

  • Blush brush

As the name suggests, it’s used to add color to the cheeks. One of the larger of the brushes you’ll use, it has soft bristles and is intended to blend color as well as apply it.

  • Lip brush

Lipstick is supposedly designed to be applied directly from the case, but don’t you just hate it when you have a lipstick you love and then you throw it away because you just can’t use what’s left in the bottom?? Well, using a lip brush will help you use every little bit of lipstick and it will provide even more and accurate coverage.

Tips for longest-lasting bold lip colors such as blood-red):

1. Line your lips and fill them in with pencil, apply one layer of your lipstick

2. Get a paper tissue and put it over your lips *make sure you get the tissue in between your lips*, powder your lips over the tissue to get rid of excess oil

3. Reapply lipstick and blot on tissue, finish it off with lipgloss and bam! I assure you it will last for many hours! :) use your foundation brush to cover your lips with a thin layer of foundation, dust with powder, apply lipstick, dust again, then blot.

Makeup brushes never last forever. Frequent use that involves coating them in various types of makeup, it is important to make sure that you care for them appropiately. Your brushes should be stored out of harm’s way after each use, and cleaned regularly to avoid bacteria and possible breakouts…

I hope you all find this useful!

Let me know what topics do you want me to cover, if you have questions let me know in the comments section below… Oh! You know I can talk about makeup forever; however, I know some of you are not that much into it, please let me know what would you like me to write about in this blog, after all this is all for you, to help you and give you tips/knowledge you may find useful…

Stay beautiful and smile!
