Hello Gals! So this is the first post to our blog. I’m Caity, or Caitlin, and I’m on the GBD BOD. When I first joined Girls By Design, I met Meggie in the forum. We started talking and talking, and then decided to email, skype, send letters, and video chat. It was crazy. We became crazy close in a matter of months. Then after we had become great friends, we decided to visit one another. We just had to meet!

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Insane! You met someone on the internet and you’re going to travel halfway across the world to meet one another…. sketchy much? Oh, I forgot to mention, Meggie is from Bulgaria and I am from Pennsylvania.  However, it’s not like that. When I met Meggie at the airport, I knew a 50 year old pedophile wasn’t going to stroll off the plane. We planned the trip for a year. Our parents video chatted and emailed. We’ve known one another for over a year, we’ve video chatted for hours on end talking about our obsession with the british show, Misfits. I knew her better than I knew myself.

There I am, waiting in the airport. Sweaty palms, walking back and forth… the whole deal. Then, there she was! Her braided piggy-tails and leather jacket with her favorite pair of converse!

The questions of “what should I say?” and “what if she doesn’t like me?” all melted away. I hugged her and our friendship was sealed. We were in this together. We’ve been camping for the past 3 days and we have the bug bites to prove it! *glances at bumpy arms, legs, feet and boobs….yes, boobs.

Meggie is excited for the 4th of July, and even more excited for NYC.
