Hello beautifuls!!! Nope… I’m not Dead….Yet… LOL

Contrary to what many of you my beloved readers may have thought I’m still alive… I just have gone through a very difficult period in my life… So many  things have happened since I last wrote an entry, among them I lost a dear friend and was diagnosed with endometriosis to accompany my POS (polycystic ovaries syndrome). My heart definitely goes out to all my beautiful ladies who have any of those diseases. Because of this I decided to write about another condition I have and to ask you ladies if you have any skin condition or particular disease and how you have deal with it.

Mine is Atopic Skin.

“Atopic dermatitis is a very common, often chronic (long-lasting) skin disease that affects a large percentage of the world’s population. It is also called eczema, dermatitis, or atopy. Most commonly, it may be thought of as a type of skin allergy or sensitivity. The atopic dermatitis triad includes asthma, allergies (hay fever), andeczema. There is a known hereditary component of the disease, and it is seen more in some families. The hallmarks of the disease include skin rashes and itching.” (www.medicinenet.com)

“Dermatitis” means inflammation of the skin. “Atopic” refers to diseases that are hereditary, tend to run in families, and often occur together. In atopic dermatitis, the skin becomes extremely itchy and inflamed, causing redness, swelling, cracking, weeping, crusting, and scaling. Dry skin is a very common complaint and an underlying cause of some of the typical rash symptoms. It is a very difficult condition to deal with because there is no cure, and in my particular case treatments have not helped much…

There are periods of time when the disease is worse, which are followed by periods when the skin improves or clears up entirely. Because multiple factors can trigger or worsen atopic dermatitis, including dry skin, seasonal allergies, exposure to harsh soaps and detergents, new skin products or creams, and cold weather, it is even harder to control. Environmental factors can also activate symptoms of atopic dermatitis at any time in the lives of people like me who have inherited the atopic disease trait.

In my case I spent all high school wearing sweaters despite of the temperature, this is because my arms and legs are where I get the worst rashes and therefore scars. I still get a little self conscious wearing tank tops or only swimsuits when I go to the beach.

Now girls it’s your turn to share!!… Do you have any skin condition that frustrates you? Does it make you feel self-conscious or hurts your self esteem? Have you felt “unattractive” because of it? Let me know in the comments section!

On a happier note… not everything has been so bad… I also had the chance of getting Lasik surgery in my eyes! yay! BUT I’ve been forbidden to wear makeup for 45 days! :-O of pure pain and torture! I still have 13 days to go and I’m starting to feel really… unsettled everytime I see an eyeshadow :(  How do you suggest I cope with this? Lol

Stay beautiful and happy

XOXO

I’m so sorry Lucy :(
I’m sending lots of good thoughts and energy your way!
Thanks for the info about Atopic dermatitis, I’ve never heard of it before. I can totally relate to wearing long or 3-4 sleeves when it’s hot, I’ve got some scars that I’m self conscious about.
How was the Lasik surgery, was it scary? I want to get it done but I’m terrified of surgery. Were you coherent the whole time? Could you see them working on your eyes? I want details lol

Great post Lucy :)

I admire your strong spirit and you have nothing to be worried about, im sure you’re gorgeous!I also feel self concious in bathing suits because I have alot of stretch marks. I also have problematic skin so i always feel a little sad when i see girls who eat all the junk in the world but still have flawless skin.
Thankyou for sharing this with us,Lucy!xoxo

Hello loves!!! Thanks for all the support! I felt all your e-hugs!!

@Alyssa can you imagine me? in the middle of this tropical country with long sleeves? However if the scars are just scars and not a constant eruption like in my case, there are makeup brands that sell products which cover scars and even tatoos! I think my next post will be on Lasik surgery as a whole so stay tuned! :) I’m feeling better, and everything looks so pretty!!

@Maia!! Thank YOU!! for putting up with me and my hiatus periods… You’re the best editor!! period!!

@Svetlana Thank you girl! That is so sweet of you!! In regards to your stretch marks, try some water proof self-tanner that at least makes them less evident… Oh and you should try to use some vitamin E infused creams to prevent more from coming, I love Eucerin’s baby and mom, it is really good! ;)

Thanks for all the support and good vibes! I can assure you I felt them!!

Stay as gorgeous as you all are! Skin conditions or not! :)
xoxoxo

Lucy, being able to be alive is the greatest gift of all. The problems we face during our lives make us stronger people with enough strength to face any obstacle in the future. If anything bad happened to you be ready to receive something very good because nature compensates us almost immediately.

Be strong. Be beautiful. Thanx for the great post. The K ladies must’ve loved it as much as I did.

See ya.

@Alby of course it is… problems are what make us really appreciate the good things in our lives!! However, I wanted to tell you girls my experience with that kind of thing to reach out to those girls that may be experiencing some of the discomfort and even depression that can result from a health condition that is there for the world to see… Not like the others I have that I mentioned, you wouldn’t be able to tell if you saw me, but as it’s something many girls have to live with every day, I thought this could let them know they are not alone… and things will eventually get better, not because you’ll get cured but because your attitude towards said conditions will change/improve… thank you for your kind words! you all fill my heart with lots of joy! :) xoxo
