Speak Italiano!

Right now I am in the midst of taking Italian – with my school the courses follow a “block” schedule, where you take only one class for one block. The block is 3 1/2 weeks, five days a week, and 3 1/2 hour classes each day. It’s incredibly intense and fast paced, especially with taking a language course. I’m taking Italian 101, but because it’s a language, the course will be two blocks. The first day of class, my professor, who is an adorable little Italian man, taught the entire class in Italian! It was incredibly overwhelming, but so beautiful to listen to. Here are some basic phrases we learned that you can easily pick up and practice!

To greet someone:

Buongiorno, mi chiamo Maia. Piacere di conoscerti. = Hi, my name is Maia. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

Come stai? = How are you?

Bene, sto male, molto bene = good, bad, very good

I also love italian. It’s the third language i’m learning. Love Italian singers like Laura Pausini, Tiziano Ferro and there’s also these bands like Sonohra. They’re great.
