Good morning, Sleepyhead!
Every morning as the week wears on, I find myself wishing I could spring out of bed with the energy to sing and dance good morning to the world like Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray. Unfortunately, that almost never happens. More often than not, I find myself feeling sluggish and take up to half an hour to wake up completely. It’s a constant uphill battle that I’m sure many of us face. The only ways I’ve been able to combat this lethargy, so far, have been sensory shock via a hot shower or simply the fear of being tardy for something important.
What do you do when you just can’t seem to summon the willpower to drag yourself out of bed in the morning? Ideally, we’d all just get more sleep, but sometimes life gets in the way and eight hours a night isn’t an option. I’d love to hear your thoughts and tips!

November 20, 2011It’s tough when a job is a job and there are bills to pay that require that income. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to make a living doing something they really enjoy and can remain enthusiastic about. If that enthusiasm is missing, then the start if the day can be difficult at best. Maybe admitting that this current job is just a device that enables you to persevere until something really fulfilling comes along will give you the determination you need. In that situation, it will help to make the ’shock’ simply sitting up and getting out if bed (no matter how drowsy you are) will make it all more bearable and productive. Does anyone make an alarm clock that makes a cup of tea or coffee before sounding off? LOL! if all else fails, find a significant other to wake up beside you that makes the beginning of each day so thrilling falling back to sleep never enters your mind! Take care… Rich H.
